I have a court date tomorrow, because i got into a car accident while it was snowing and my car hydroplaned into another car.
the officer only ticket me for following too closely.
so i need some opinions what do i plead at court tomorrow?

guilty, not guilty, nolo, pre-trial...?

also should i keep my mouth shut about the accident, should i just say i was following too closely?
(since the officer never mentioned the crash in the ticket)

what would be the smartest move?

why because i am the president of the student council of course

well i am assuming that this is a western court system, car insurance companies deal with car accidents, getting into a car accident isn't a crime unless you do a hit and run (usually what someone did leading up to the car accident is a crime), the ticket was for tailgating if you agree with the ticket then just pay the ticket and thats that, if you dont then you just have to tell them and there will be another appointment for you to fight your ticket

Well, if this is in the states, unless you plan on disputing the citation, you should have just paid it. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about showing up in court and having the chance of court costs added to your ticket.

If you plan on pleading not guilty and disputing the ticket, you had better bring along some type of evidence to demonstrate your side of the case. Depending on the judge and your location results can be having it thrown out to being given a new court date for a full hearing.

Though, if we' re looking at this from a rational standpoint, you should just plead guilty and admit fault, because if you're bothering to ask something like this on a manga site, you're sure as heck not going to win any arguments in court : |.
