The official website for the Hidamari Sketch anime franchise confirmed on Saturday that a fourth season has been green-lit. The announcement was first made at the TBS Anime Festa event in Tokyo on Saturday. A new Hidamari Sketch special edition was previously announced in March.

Hidamari Sketch's story centers around a high school for the arts and the everyday life of some of its students. Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine published the original manga by Ume Aoki (Puella Magi Madoka Magica designer) in Japan. Aoki is working on an entirely new manga. Yen Press publishes the Sunshine Sketch manga in North America, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the three previous television anime series.

The previously revealed fourth anime season of Hidamari Sketch will air next year. While details about the next season have yet to be announced, selected episodes from the first and second seasons will be re-air in Japan beforehand.

Fans will be able to vote for their favorite episodes out of the 30 in the first and second seasons; 13 will be selected for the re-airing. The first two seasons will begin re-airing on Tokyo MX, Tochi TV, and other channels on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
