Hello,
Because I've been feeling kinda down today, I thought I'd try reading one of Tamura Yumi's series to feel better and get my mind off of things since I've heard so many good things about them. ;P However, seeing as both Basara and 7 Seeds are marked tragedies, and my tendacy to dislike them -_-;;, for those who have read both, which of those is less sad?
And since I'm ALWAYS in he mood for romances, which one has more of it? xD
And most important of all, which is more captivating overall (i.e. will hook you)?
Thanks a lot ^^

Basara definitely has more romance as well as tragedy. I think 7 Seeds has a more original storyline, but for me it took nearly 10 chapters to really get into it. Personally, I like 7 Seeds better as of the latest chapters.
BOTH mangas will equally captivate you. If you want more romance, go with Basara. I'm not really sure how to describe it but 7 Seeds gives you a creepy-scifi vibe as you adventure the world with the characters and that's what really pulled me in.
Really what I think it comes down to is whether you want to read a complete story or not.

It's really impossible to decide. They're both just amazing! They have stories that will make you laugh and cry.
I'd suggest Basara first though, simply because it'll be chronologically correct. It'll also give you a good introduction to her storytelling style. Plus you'll be able to see how her art grows and improves along the way 🙂
But seriously, I highly recommend both. They're totally worth it!

I haven't finished 7 Seeds...because it's not completely scanlated. But Basara really isn't that sad, lol, you'll see once you read. XD
It's marked tragedy but there's a happy ending. ^^

My opinion is that Basara has more romance.
But 7seeds is more captivating for me.
And tragedy doesn't mean sad ending, it can be happened in the middle of the story.

Read basara first. It has more "ups" (happy/nontragic) moments than 7 seeds.
7 seeds plot makes it inherently more tragic (the latest story line is rather sad).
However, both are amazing and you'd be missing out if you didn't read either
Feed your head.
well...basara caught my attention more but strangely I like 7 seeds [u] more

I've read both of them, and, going off of what you're hoping for, I'd definitely recommend Basara.
It's got way more romance than 7 Seeds (that is, the romance is a central part of the storyline, rather than an angsty, sometimes-whiny subplot), and I think it's infinitely less tragic. I mean, they both made me cry at parts (sometimes with joy, so don't get too worried grins), but... 7 Seeds is very, very twisted. Very twisted.
Amazing, yes. But twisted.
But if you want something less heavy and oh-my-god-I-feel-miserable, go with Basara. It's my favorite out of the two, anyway. XD

Don't read both of them if don't want to be down.
About which is less tragedies, maybe 7Seed should be included as horror and thriller, hence Basara is a bit.... more brain (?)
I recommend 7Seed
