Hi guys, so a new movie called 2012 is coming out. Here's the trailer:

http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony/2012/

So the movie is based on some historian claims that the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar predicts a cycle of which major change will come to Earth.

I think it's utterly insane anyone would take the words of people from so long ago. They differ from us only in technological advances. And if that's the only difference then why are we listening to them? We might as well be listening to some primitive human's prediction in cave paintings. Okay, that's a little over-board, but do you guys see my logic?

I think nothing will happen what so ever.

I don't as well the best evidence that supports the 2012 is the WEB SPIDERS that predicted wars involving nuclear ICBMs would be at an all time high in 2012.

But still its a fun little thing to talk about.

Utterly Insane?? the people you are talking about were the first known people to come up with the mathematical concept of zero (nothing) not to mention the geniuses to build such large and complex structures (stepped pyramids as one example) that even we could not duplicate w/o our precious technologies and machines. these people also had the most accurate calendar as well as the fact that they also were able to map many of the planets w/o any known source of magnification, like a telescope. These people who you are so easy to label primitive were in fact more complex than you ignorantly presume they were. the only major mental difference is that they were not affected by any judeo-christian or muslim thought. Another point being is that some people may consider 200 years long and many of our mathematical concepts like calculus were conceived more than 200 years ago, so before you jump to conclusions why dont you reflect and realize that we learn from our past, and without it we would have no future.

Nicely worded but that didn't answer the question do you are do you not belive in 2012 but I agree with you they where more complex than most people give them credit for.

That is a logic fallacy my friend. Even if they did all these great things, it does not logically imply they are right in their predictions. So.....for example: Jim knows calculus before 6th grade. Jim graduated college at the age of 18 with double degree in astro-physics and electrical engineering. Jim won the Nobel prize for inventing anti gravity engines. Jim also thinks that God does not exist and we came from aliens known by the name of Daleks. Does this then logically imply that Jim's statement is true? No.

In a more simpler logical argument. If all predications are made from pattern recognitions of the past, then this implies for the Mayan's prediction to be true, the event had to have happened at least once before and they had somehow survived to record it.

Also there are other ancient civilizations beside the Mayans. The Egyptians, who built the great pyramids, never had 2012 big world change predictions. The Chinese never had one in 2012.
So before you jump to any conclusions, consider the logic fallacies in your statements.

I would only believe this prediction to be true if another ancient civilization, isolated from the mayan influence, also made the same exact prediction.

Sorry, I'm feeling testy today. 🤢 🤢 But I feel the need to educate.

From my studies, every possible outcome of 2012 has something to do with a change in the atmosphere.
Global Warming?
A shift in the Planet's Magnetic Poles that would temporarily obliterate the upper part of the earth's atmosphere?
Venus blocks off the sun for an extended period of time?
Everyone bakes a pie at the same time?

WHO KNOWS!
I'm 50/50 on the topic.

Just when I had such a great counter point, you stole my thunder.

Sorry, I didn't think anyone would have such an article. Oh well. Lock it up. 🤣
