I have been playing Final Fantasy since I was 8 and when XI came out it was my first taste of an MMO (never cared for WoW it looked incredibly boring) and man oh man did it leave it's mark with my personal favorite class samurai. I loved Sam the moment I unlocked it, hell it is even my go to class in every MMO, if I can't katana I won't truly enjoy it. As someone that spent 90% of their time on XI as samurai I can 100% say it shines best as dps. Keep in mind this is coming from someone that solo'd bosses and was literally unkillable sub dancer, but by far the damage I put out on sub war or hell sub thief for sata was ungodly.
What I would like to see is a similar combo system like in XI but seeing as TP is used entirely differently I guess it would require some kind of stack mechanic, and similar ninjustu the outcome of the combo effect is based on the input, maybe one combo lowers mob defense, one grants AoE dps etc, something that gives that XI samurai feel, because as much as I like drk in XIV it feels off compared to XI drk.
And honestly I think we need a blunt tank as so far mnks debuff only really works for itself, we already have two sword tanks and no sword dps.
Now as to rdm, I played it and it was fun but not useful, let's keep it real, any place a rdm was I would rather have a blm or whm or even Blu, rdm was limited at best, not that there wasn't some decent ones but overall what's the point filling a spot with someone that can't do anything the best? Now in terms of how rdm would actually work I would fancy it would be more like the rune fencer to be honest because if it's a caster it'll have to stand still, and we all know how well that would work for a melee DPS standing in AoE range trying to get off that weak fire spell or doing that pitiful baby heal, I would say give them DoT but let's face it smn has DoT on lock which leaves the only viable option magical blades.
Now for some reason people think Blu is coming in 4.0, another favorite class of mine and one I could see being a viable tank, with dual chakram(sp) blades and most of the magic they learn being from completing the hunting log giving them a unique kit, but obviously the amount of blue magic on the hotbar would have to be limited so people don't mana burn, but I could see it being a good tank or dps depending on which spells they get.
And finally another one people seem to like, dancer (I won't use DNC because nobody likes the DNC), but honestly that only could be a healer as they never output that much damage and they couldn't take a hit nearly as hard as Sam/dancer, or warrior/dancer etc in fact I never saw any main dancers aside from sub leveling.
Again this is just my 2 cents as a long time XI player, any fellow XI players out there and what do you think?
