Well I have read the small summary about this manga but wanted your opinions. How good is the plot/storyline in this manga series. Cause I seriously don't want to waste time reading volumes after volumes with the story going no where.

Gintama is kind've a ridiculous series, but it's great for a laugh... actually, it's all about laughs...

If you like comedic series that don't take themselves seriously, but do take themselves seriously every once in a while, then you should read it. I've never read Rosario+Vampire, but I don't think the 'romance' in Gintama really counts as any sort of serious romance... or slightly serious romance... ^^; I'm sorry if that didn't make sense.

i've been reading Gintama for quite a while and im just wondering why are there many chapters aren't scanlated and skipped

Gintama is the most random and funniest manga I've ever had the pleasure to read. The Shinsengumi is perfectly portrayed and they always crack me up.

Plot wise, not so good but all the jokes/randomness/silliness that occur through the manga is soooo worth it. 😃

the chapters that have been scanlated dun hv much of a plot. the ones NOT scanlated have some arcs.

(some arcs are about a volume long i think..)

this is like the best manga you'll ever find. it has all the qualities needed in a good manga 🙂

If you can't get your hands on all the chapters you will really be missing out. I was only able to get reading the first volume and then tried the scans, full of suck.

btw, should historical & slice of life be added to one of gintama's genre?

the characters are all based on historical ppl and the settings also historical.

Earlier i posted asking about the gaps in the scantalations figuring that it was just missing from the places i was looking. . . but no lol. I mean i get the fact that it got licenced and a lot of groups did not want to touch it anymore but this is the strangest thing i thing i have seen

I am kinda new to the Manga sceen i guess but i have been following the anime fansubs for years and years - i no the upset when a show gets licenced and the group you were following drops the show, but usually another group picks it up AND THEY PICK IT UP FROM WHERE IT LEFT OFF!!!

i mean holy crap!! the amount of holes in the releases and the amount of different groups that have taken a shot at Gintama . . .now there is a steady group that is up to 239! - to me it is just crazy that you can skip around in chapters and not feel the need to complete the set!!
