I don't think that's what he meant, 'cause I'm inclined to agree with him. Bleach, Elfen Lied, etc. aren't bad-even by the most subjective standards they're just mediocre/standard fare. Bad is a combination of terrible art, no plot, awful music, lame dialogue, and execution so lousy that it fails to be laughable and just goes straight to the delete pile. I'm not crazy about Fooly Cooly either, 'cause yeah it's completely incoherent most of the time, but it's still got really solid art and music, and it's symbolism is clean enough that it gets its message across without requiring logical loops (effort!=loops) on the viewers part. For truly bad, I'd go with later subbed DBZ episodes, though even they're still watchable.

I'm watching an OVA that and can't decide if it's gonna be stale shoujo or loli yuri with some hentai, and even that one I'm waiting on to decide just how bad it is.

Zurelily agree-I've tried giving Monochrome Factor a try and it was such a waste of time. Nothing to set it apart from run of the mill shounen 'cept a creepy love interest.

i tried watching the dubbed version of death note and even the creepy music in the background couldnt help set the mood that the japanese voice did. as for FLCL, i dont get whats the hate with it, dats the only show besides for maybe detective conan, akira, or bebop that u can give to a non-anime fan and they'd enjoy it.

shrugs FLCL takes work because it's not a straight forward narrative. It starts resembling a normal story, glimpses of plot and characterization and such, and then bam a giant guiter, some crazyness, and it's a two steps forward/one back situation. Repeat with some very loud symbolism and strong themes and an ending that's so open as to almost feel like a none ending. It's so much "art" that the story gets a bit lost, and that's the kind of thing that just isn't for everybody.

Definitely not my first choice for non-anime fans; I'd go with something that's a bit more straightforward, like a Miyazaki film or Tokyo Godfathers, maybe Metropolis.

As for bad manga? Lately I'm thinking Ιkeyamada Go goes in the same catagory as Minami Kanan and Shinjo Mayu. She's the one responsible for Moe Kare and Uwase no Midori Kun and all her stuff's the same: dubious consent + bad boy characters + idiot girls, well idiot everyone.

Well I wouldn't put Ikeyamada Go in that category yet, b/c regarding Uwasa no Midori-kun, despite Midori's denseness and her super amazing ability to fall in love with the world's biggest asshole she eventually redeems herself and she also isn't as weak and timid as Mayu's or Kanan's heroines. As for Moe Kare... well, you got me there.

I'm glad Dark_Sage reminded me of how much I hated Mahoromatic (of course most harem makes me sick to my stomach so I may be be biased). The manga is a little more tolerable but the anime has a crappy ending that was a teeny bit creepy if you think about it.

I also forgot about how absolutely horrible the Cowboy Bebop manga was. And that I wish Dragonball GT never existed.

i know some non-anime ppl who seen miyazaki films and dint like it. as for the other crap i named, i dindt get any negative response for em. hell i even showed them to some real hoodrats and they liked it. i guess its the style and whole in your face presentation thats appealing.

Azumanga Daioh, stupidiest anime I've ever watched. Love Monster, i regret even reading it past the first chapter. Love Celeb, there was sex like every 5 pages, now I can't stand her work. Yu-gi-oh, what was i thinking! I actually used to have the stupid cards too. Chobits, couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of the first eps.

Well, some of the worst anime out there are:

Tekken: The Motion Picture. Seriously, some video games just shouldn't be made into anime. Also, Gundou Musashi. Everything about this anime is horrible, the animation, the plot, it just sucked.

As for manga, I haven't find any of them.

i don't like her anymore either and love celeb, i couldn't read past volume 4. you just get sick of it after a while. i also got confused which of her works i'd read cause they are all basically the same.

i finished watching rave anime and for the sake of it i watched the dubbed version. WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT! the opening song was some crap tune, they changed the background music and americanised what the characters said. if you don't want your ears to bleed, dont watch it.. seriously

Worst anime: One Piece.
I watched one episode (not even, I could only take about 5 minutes), and I am never going to watch anime again. It was utterly excruciating. I wanted to pop out my eyeballs and wash them in alcohol and take off my ears and bury them. How can a manga that good have an anime so bad? It shouldn't be physically possible.
Worst manga: Fruits Basket.
It was just too mediocre, from the art to the characters (Tohru especially) to the main plot device ("transform when hugged by the opposite gender"?... that's just... so dumb and arbitrary...), that it was just kind of irritating to read it.
