But what do you think makes it overrated? I haven't seen or heard people comment about it that much for it to become that popular. It was airing on Sci-Fi of all places...

I know that it isn't the worst anime ever, But it's the worst that I've watched so far. And hopefully this will be the worst that I will have ever seen.

It actually has impossibly high ratings on a variety of sites (~8.5-9.1 Bayesian averages, just among what I've seen). People just like GAR and bright colors, what can I say? It just has a vocal fanbase, I guess. I'm surprised it's the worst you've watched though, you must not have been exposed to much then?

As for what makes it overrated, it's just that even as a show to watch with your brain completely shut off, the pacing felt odd to me, and the character development was somewhat erratic, which matters in any environment, regardless of how serious. That's just my take though.

Well, it's not that I haven't been exposed to much, it's more like I try to steer away from crap anime, so I admit that I got trapped into Gurren Lagann.

nothing in this anime was even remotley intresting, and the little girl is so incredibly pathetic...

The story is filled with BIG plot holes. The characters are LAME."all hail lulu?! my a$$!). the mechas are bad (even the old gundams are done better !). Hell, almost everything in this show is BAD.
It's a shame to see an anime like this in the top 5 lists 😔 .sigh peoples standers must've fallen hard over the past few years 😢

O_O major plot holes? besides the open-ended last episode, everything was explained pretty well. i didn't watch all of it until it ended just for the point of being able to sit down in one day and watch it all so as to not miss anything, and i didn't find any real problems.

For example... Watase Yuu. Almost all of her works is about no-good-girl with super-handsome-and-strong guy. Talk about dreams.

Hmm... while I'm at it... Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. Idiots running around to collect feathers.... I fell asleep after watching the anime for 10 minutes 😀

God Child. I detest the ending and I (personally) think the story itself is a huge turnover. The mangaka herself didn't expect it the first time she did it, but she made it as if everything was carefully planned by making countless new facts, replacing the old believes when we started to read the manga. At first I was like "Whoa, so it was like that." But then, it happened for... perhaps more than 20 times, each new fact replacing the old, making you a bit confused to chronologically rethink of everything again. If you just take it as it is, then you might think that the mangaka prepared it from the start but for me it's just like jumbled puzzles being forced to fit together. 🙁

meh. probably the worst ones:

Anime: Green Green. total sh*t....so dissapointed ~~ there wasnt even anything Green XD just stupid eichi? che i dunno how to spell in cause you havent noticed
Manga: ummmmmzzzz probably everything yaoi/yuri for me @@ everything else no matter how plotless i can stomach....

A lot of the generic popular shounen stuff is in my opinion, really, really bad. Some of the less popular shoujo series, the ones with especially bad art, are also unbearable. I can't name any series right now though, besides the obvious Naruto. Most really crappy series I don't spend much time on and quickly forget.

You could argue series like Tu-Love-Ru are really bad, considering this series is over a hundred chapters of cliched harem characters, ecchi, and no development or plot advancement at all, but I like the characters too much, and love the art, so it ends up being more enjoyable than some series with real plot but crappy art or nasty characters.

It's one of the few I just stopped watching, and couldn't finish. Even the bad ones I can normally finish just to see how they'd end, but that one, I stopped halfway.

I'm sure there are quite a few turds in my anime basket, but, because they were as such, it's harder to remember them!

Magister Negi magi or something. AWFUL. I've heard other people rave about it being the guy's new manga from Love Hina, it almost made me want to say NO to Love Hina altogether.

Tokyo Mew Mew - it was like Disney Channel was involved somehow in this manga, all the most silliest things occured, it was all about some cat girl's love for a human boy and then fighting some evil things from space, just a waste of space that would make even Sailor Moon shake her head at it, the Anime is bearable only in the Japanese format, don't get me started on the worst dub in history.

Datte Suki Nandamon - the guy doesn't like her and she practically begs him, PLEASE.
Hot Gimmick - if ANY of these characters existed, I'd shoot them.
