its pretty obvious it would be asuna because she IS the main lead despite wat u see now in the manga its already guaranteed negi will end up with her. Negi is also closest to asuna and they do sleep together occasinally =x

Well, let's look at this tactically. Which of the girls have a artifact that can do things Negi can't? Nodoka can access the mind and heart of any opponet, Asuna has a big arse harisen/sword, Konoka can fix any wound taken within 3 minutes, Chiu can hack any computer system be it mundane or magical, Paru can make her drawing come to life, etc. If I were to choose logically Asuna would be out, with Negi choosing the Battle mage path he can handle just about anything in close combat that she can, if not more. Konoka is great but I think she and Setsuna are going to end up being partners and eventually forming a team with Negi and his crew. What Negi really needs is a partner that can sit back and support him from the rear while he is in close combat so one of the library group would be the most logically choice, me I'm pulling for Nodoka.

That being said both Yue and Nodoka are learning magic and that could throw a bit of a wrench in them becoming his partner. The only character that would seemingly be left all alone if Negi didn't choose them is Asuna, and we still haven't fully found out about her past yet. What I see happening is either Akamatsu conniving a way for Negi to keep multipule partners, which is highly unlikely, or Negi choosing Asuna in the end.

I really don't like submissive whiny characters like Nodoka. I think, though, there is no one to pick. I think he gets them all -- ie, I think there's a reason his father is called "The Thousand Master" and I don't think it's about the magic tricks ;p. But, it we are talking about one who is a preference, then it's obviously Asuna. Asuna has already pledged to be by his side and he has the most intimate relationship with her (not in anyway sexual -- I'm just saying he's closest to her). Besides, Akamatsu seems to have a thing for violent females, so it's a forgone conclusion as far as I'm concerned. Also, watch the first anime series, if you really want the answer. Negi, however, is 10-years old in this manga, so for him to be even thinking that way at this point in the story is nonsense.
