A source linked to the Hunter X Hunter franchise told the Mainchi Shimbun paper's Mantan Web site that production on the first anime film based on Yoshihiro Togashi's manga has been green-lit. Even though there have been two television anime series, including one ongoing one, there have not been a theatrical anime in the 14 years of the manga's serialization. According to Mainichi's source, the story of the film be an entirely original one.

According to Mainichi, Togashi will publish a message in this year's 16th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on Monday.

I hope the quality matches the fillers in the original hunter x hunter anime; those were some high quality fillers.

Completely Original story. Sounds nice. I wonder which time frame they'll choose to set it in. After Hunter Exam would be a good start. If not than maybe a prequel? That'd be a nice turn.

what they should have done...

complete the greed island final ova[with the same voice actors from back then]

would have been alot better than doing an original movie
they just gonna fight,fight,fight and then fight some more
thats all they do in JUMP "movies"
[im not saying HxH is not about fighting...but i would rather see they complete something they started than doing just another random fight movie with characters we like]
