Like someone else said, they should feel ashamed for making you feel ashamed for liking these artists (emphasis on artists; even David bowie has some really stellar stuff). These artists are classics, there is absolutely no shame in listening to them.

If this is all you're ashamed of, then you got it better than a lot of people. Believe me, there are much worse bands out there to you could like.
As for me, I can't really say I'm ashamed of listening to any band, or artist, but there are some that make me think, why do I like these guys. Here's some
Blindside (not too ashamed because few people know of them)
Chevelle (they should be the epitome of rock I hate, but I like them for some reason)
Linkin Park (older stuff, as in their first album)
30 Seconds to Mars (haven't listened in a while, but it's still on my iPod)
I'm sure there's a lot of bands that I used to listen to that I am ashamed to admit, but everyone likes music that when they grow up makes them say, "What the hell was I thinking?"

I listen to nothing but rock music--from harder-edged stuff all the way across the board to punk and alternative rock. Pretty much, if there's guitar, drum, and bass, I may enjoy it. I do occasionally like some electronica like the Chemical Brothers and a little bit of Moby sometimes, but I don't think those are things to be embarassed about. What does embarass me is my occasional forays into pop music. Namely:
Missy Elliot - There's something kinda odd about her music that I like. I don't own any CDs and don't like her enough to actually get a full album of hers, but I've got 4 or 5 songs of hers downloaded on my iPod.
Madonna - She may be getting older, but I still like a lot of her songs. And I do actually own some albums in this case.
Justin Timberlake - Sorta, but it mostly relates to Madonna (see above) because I really like their "4 Minutes" song. However, I thought I should give him a spot of his own on this list since I also liked "Sexy Back" enough to put that on my iPod too.

haha yeah...thats the only one i can think of too, i shamefully downloaded that song from Beck (Brainstorm).......and i'm thinking about getting that song from Nana, but i dont remember the name.....

All who surround me feel uneasy then I say that I like j-music. But anyway I really like it, so I have to listen to it all alone or with earphones...
The same situation were with the first album of Christina Aguilera. 🙂

Any anime related music, I always try to cover up the fact that I get the music from Anime by getting the proper name and album cover and what not on iTunes.
Oh and my most shameful one is "Gay Bar" by Electric Six, I found the lyrics very funny and entertaining lol, but everyone else thinks its weird so I took it off my Ipod.
