I've tended to shy a way from manga that are based on video games. So I'd like the opinion of others to help me decide whether to stop discriminating against them or not.

My thoughts were that manga based on video games would be a lot like video games that are based on movies or movies based on books. Just cheap incarnations of the original.

The only video game-based manga I've read is Heart no Kuni no Alice. It's pretty good, but I've never played the game, so I don't know which is better.

Well, there are good ones, there are bad ones, why put them all in the same bag? I don't judge manga based on the original media but based on if it's enjoyable for me or not.

Thats true. I've learned that discriminating based on genre kept me away from good reads.. I suppose what a manga is based on would be similar to that.

Well, there's a lot of eroge based manga, I'm not really sure...I all depends on the specific manga

I hear there's a new Halo manga/anime coming out

mostly yes but Shingetsutan Tsukihime is kickass
so are the fate/ adaptations

I believe both Kiniro no Corda and Gakuen Heaven are both based on a "Choose your own boyfriend" kind of video game. (I've forgotten what the sub-type is called, but typically those types of games don't get ported to the US.) The first is a female main char, and the second is a male main char. I've never played either game.

I really like La Corda, but I wasn't really thrilled with the Gakuen Heaven mangas or djs.

If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

I've read all Kingdom heart manga series, that I was able to find. Quite good manga, but many parts of story was removed. Of cource it's a bit puty, but it still quite dinamic stories whith a quite good story plot. Or mayby it's just becouse game was created by Squere Epix(Final Fantasy authors)
