yeah they're alive. the whole thing was staged. it was a good manga, just more than a little intense.

A very valid question! The first time I read it, I was really confused too- it was very ambiguous as to whether they were dead or not, what with the whole deal with the scientist guy and all. I realized that they didn't die though. Like the person before me said, the deaths were staged. I think we get confused because that part seemed quite hard to believe.
