I'm looking for a Miyazaki romance film~ I've already watched Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle (which was epic XD), by the way. Are there any more films that he worked on that had even a tiny bit of chemistry between two people? Thanks 😀

Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind have hints of it, but Howl's is the most romantic in my opinion.

I don't remember if Kiki's Delivery Service does or not...

porco rosso has some implied romance, i believe.

i actually like how romance is so rare in miyazaki.

I agree...Miyazaki doesn't have a lot of romance, which makes his works a little more unique.

I think Kiki's Delivery Service sorta had some, but I think it was kinda leaning towards "very strong friendship"? Still one of my favorite Ghibli movies today and worth a watch IMO. 😛

Also, you can try The Cat Returns. Although it's not a Hayao Miyazaki, it's still a Ghibli movie with a bit of romance. 😉

edit.

might I suggest reading the original Howl's Moving Castle novel as well? Although it quite different from the movie adaption, I thought it was way more romantic and epic. 😃

I second this. It's a really cute film. There's a manga version too, though I haven't read it. Mimi wo Sumaseba

Try Princess Mononoke, it kinda sorta has romance in it. Though it could use a lot more of it.

But yea, Haiyo Miyazaki is weak in this department, his main focus seems to be nature and the effect that human beings have on it. He is more of a dramatic author.

Almost all his movies have romance, except it is a more innocent romance then is found in most movies (lustless), which is fitting since alot of the main characters are kids. I think it has a very sweet feeling to it. It's like when the two characters hold hads, they fall in love. Laputa, castle in the sky is a fitting example of sweet pure love. I don't see it as a weakness.

Howls movie castle is a little different because it is based on an english novel, thus the slightly different feel.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I love his work so much! All of them are just asking for a sequel! His works are indeed unique in their own way 😉

EDIT: @CatzCradle: Yeah, I already read the book version of Howl's Moving Castle 😀 For some reason, I cried a couple times while reading the book 🤣
