Hi there, so I've been working as a proofreader for one of the many manga translation groups since that's what I'm good at and they needed some proofreading help. Now, I really like working for them, but I've really blown through all of the translations that they had. While that's great, I saw that another scanlation group was needing some proofreading help and they do a ton of manga that I really enjoy reading. Does anyone know what the etiquette here regarding being a free roaming proofreader? I'd love to help out this new escalation group, but at the same time I really enjoy working with my current group, can I work with both groups at the same time or is that a no-no? Is this the wrong place to ask and I should just talk to the groups themselves, or just be quiet since working with two groups is a rude thing to do?

Yes! You are "allowed" to work with as many groups as you'd like. If you are in more than one group, try not to do the whole "well in my other group..." thing. What happens in a group stays in a group also, make sure that working in more than one group will not hinder your progress. Other than that, I don't believe there's too much ethics involved in being a freelance proofreader.

Edit: What is the group that needs proofreading? We had to cancel translating my series because it received an official translation. I'm kind of out of a job atm and I'm really trying to look for more groups ;-;

Okay awesome then! Thanks for helping me out, as I really wasn't sure about the rules and manors for stuff like that. I'll definitely avoid doing things like "Oh but in this group" then, as that would be really annoying

The group is LHtranslations and they do a bunch of the isekai mangas like Re:Monster. ALTHOUGH YOU'LL HAVE TO RACE ME FOR THE PR JOB Haha but yeah, hopefully we'll work together in the future!

Oh please they probably (hopefully) have more than one job Tell me if you get a response from them because I have yet to receive a reply
