Do you have any information that you can offer to others?

I'm planning but art isn't my thing. I guess I can draw decently if I concentrate or am motivated but I'd rather write the story. I usually draw during summer break or whenever I can. Can't say I'd go to a college for art. I'm studying medicine so yeah 🤣 that option is a bit out of bounds. I have a few ideas for a manga and it's a collab with a relative of mine. We'll never finish it though, we're lazy 😀
I don't have any info for others but a huge shout: Ganbatte! I might be reading your mangas, future mangakas!

If you wish for things to happen they'll never happen, make them.
Wishing is for desperate people.

I'm more prone to story writing rather than drawing. I draw my characters just to see what they would look like, and how their expressions show.
But I have no clue how to improve on both of these, since I'm more focused on how to get a paying job.

There's also a school in Japan called Kyoto Seika which offers a degree in manga, thought you might be interested.
I want to be a mangaka too! I'm planning on finishing my first webcomic (oneshot) by spring next year. I'm coming up with character designs and practicing drawing right now. I took a figure drawing class over the summer to improve ^^ Next I plan to look through how to make nice panels on pages and stuff and also how to use screentone, etc. I pretty much have the whole story planned out and did a couple storyboards too. I really hope I can be a mangaka, even if just as a side job @@
If you have any tips it would be great if you could share them! 😀

Same! O_O
Never even thought about being a mangaka. But I do write stories and I usually draw out what my characters look like to get a better sense of personality--physically speaking. I even draw comic strips. XD But alas this isn't really something I'm aiming for in the future, I just do it for fun.
Good luck to all you future artists~ :'3

what i plan to do
with all my power is to
number #1 Art institute
number #2 learn japanese with a friend and over Rossetta stone
number #3 Go to Japan. Japanese Manga school. for the 3 months course. hopefully i can get accepted. (with this. i will use this for more recognition and also to make sure i learn the traditional japanese ways of becoming a professional manga artist)
number #4 get a job in japan. Becoming a manga artist isn't a surefire way to survive in japan.
number #5 while living there. submit my manga to major companies such as Akamaru jump to try to get serialized.
i recommend you to take notes if you would like to be one as well.
i will "NEVER" give up in my dream
>:-(

I am but lately I haven't been to inspired to draw, right now I'm just learning anatomy and shadows and some PS stuff, when I think I'm good enough I'll try submitting things to publishers.

Well, not a manga artist per se, but in a month's time I'll be starting a course in Animation at college. I hope to maybe do three year's of Animation education there, and look for any work at all, even if its just illustrative stuff.
Maybe in a few years I'll move to Japan, but I'd have to have improved the Japanese I currently know if I ever want to survive.
But I don't want to tie myself down to one particular area. I'd like to work in comics, storyboarding and film directing as well.
Tokyo_Homi, if it isn't too much to ask may I see a sample of your artwork? I'm impressed that you have a fairly realistic and developed plan for the future already...

I used to want to be a mangaka. XD I practiced like crazy, read massive amounts of manga and I'm in my fifth year of studying Japanese. Then I realized it was waaay too hard to immigrate to Japan. And the living expenses! Augh.
So I decided that I'll just focus on making a nice portfolio so I can get into a good artschool or a liberal arts college that has a good design/animation program. Maybe double major in business/marketing/something if it doesn't work out. I can do a webcomic on the side and submit things to comic publishers here. There's nothing wrong with making manga outside of Japan...(Although I know some people won't even touch OEL stuff with a stick. XD)
Uhh as for tips, I guess I'm in no position to give people advice but imo..practice your anatomy... please. Practice the basics before going straight to the animu. I know this sounds strange because manga people are disproportionate-looking to begin with anyway. But...just do it. -_-;;
