The titles I suggested were shoujo/josei titles. Not yuri nor Yaoi
Not that there is anything wrong with those genres....
I am getting the impression you hate them tho

🤣

ahahaa, hey why don't you read Love Prism and see if you still like yaoi or not afterwards.

Warning, Love Prism, is for adults only.

I definitely recommend Glass Mask as well, but be warned that it also takes a while to get really good. Maya also totally freaked me out, especially in the beginnning.

AH HA! I have evidence that the word pathos was actually used in manga. One called Hayate the Combat Butler in chapter 6 of page 126. The robot says pathos.

Of course the word pathos is used in the wrong context, but nevertheless it is used.

Yet another random inquiry.

Pathos (noun) in Modern Greek means “passion” and is used in exactly same way as in English. There is of course the verb that hasn't change its meaning since old times, ie "to suffer", "to have something happen to one".

Funny thing about sympathy and empathy: Greeks actually use same word for both and it sound similar to "sympathy". A word that sounds simular to "empathy" for a Greek person means “to have hateful feelings toward someone”.

Btw there is new filter in the search function "tragedy". I think the titles under that filter sum up this thread pretty well

how about this: Pathos=Pathetic.

yeah, never thought of that did ye?

Glass Mask looks like Speed Racer or something............True, Maya is like an otaku for TV dramas. The story is moving. A little weird too.

I do not follow, sorry.

About Glass mask: it's probably one of the most long running series, so yes it's a bit unusual in terms of story progress, reminds me of Brazilian soap operas sometimes.

Oh yeah, the longest TV Soap Opera is still running in Mexico.

I don't know whether I"s fits shoujo but I sorta felt something at the end of the manga (of around 20 volumes), that was really it though.

It's probably around...somewhere...not worth hunting down though, IMO. I read the whole thing scanlated a couple years ago, and I want those hours of my life back. 😔

Hmmm.... If you are looking for something with a bittersweet feel you might try Paradise Kiss or Nana (but they do contain some sex, it's not on a hardcore level but it is there, and my judgement may be off as to how offensive it may be) you could also try Fumiyo Soryo's work her stories definately evoke emotion. Saddly I can't think of anything that matches Sonia's situation in Crime and Punishment. That's a tough act to follow.
