Anyone like to recommend some good shoujo with pathos?

Pathos mean "commiseration: a feeling of sympathy and sorrow for the misfortunes of others; "the blind are too often objects of pity"
a style that has the power to evoke feelings"

Pathos....like Desdemona in Othello. My teacher was crying, but I didn't feel anything at all..........

I'm not sure what you mean. Like, the super-dramatic soapopera type shoujo where everyone has dark pasts and are miserable? In that case I'd definitely go for anything by Riyoko Ikeda. She's a classic as far as that stuff goes, but most of her work has yuri sympathies so be warned if you're not into that.

Pathos....more like something that evoke your emotion. Makes you pity and symphatize the character, Like Sonia from Crime and Punishment. And yes, I dislike Yuri.

Pathos: "(Greek, "emotion"): In its rhetorical sense, pathos is a writer or speaker's attempt to inspire an emotional reaction in an audience--usually a deep feeling of suffering, but sometimes joy, pride, anger, humor, patriotism, or any of a dozen other emotions. You can read more about rhetorical uses for pathos here. In its critical sense, pathos signifies a scene or passage designed to evoke the feeling of pity or sympathetic sorrow in a reader or viewer."

Sorry everybody I couldn't restrain myself...
And about this, are you looking for shoujo that makes you want to kill yourself?
(This last line was made on purpose to give the impression that I'm actually interested by this thread and not just uselessly spamming...)

no. I want someone to give me a manga that makes me have sympathy on the characters. When I read mangas, I root for the bad guys because the good guys are crap and the bad guy isn't that bad. Anyway. I am shocked no one knows the word pathos...........

I would suggest Glass Mask. If you do no feel anything for Maya and her hardships and miseries then you are made of stone.

laugh

Plus, it's a must read classic shoujo.

Why is that so shocking? It's not like pathos is a commonly-used word. I've never encountered it in any literature that I've read (which, admittedly, isn't that much).

It's a wonderful shoujo. It has despair AND triumphs and LOVE and all that good shoujo feeling. Plus Maya is a wonderful character.....too bad it's older than me (the manga) and STILL unfinished since the mangaka joined a cult or something similar (That's what I heard through the grapevine - could be filthy filthy lies but it's all I got and it's enough to make me bitter. dead )

I want her to finish it!!!!!

laugh

Well I didnt cry....but I wanted to....embarrassed

Deep Love: Paos Tale , is also really sad even though its about dogs.

The titles I suggested were shoujo/josei titles. Not yuri nor Yaoi
Not that there is anything wrong with those genres....
I am getting the impression you hate them tho
