Is there someone out there exept myself that practices Iaido?
laido is, physically, the art of drawing the sword and attacking one or more opponents in one flowing, continuous motion. The object of laido is to develop one's mind and body and the emphasis is on developing one's ability to remain calm and in control of oneself when under pressure.
SOUNDS INTERESTING... I wanna sword ;_; But uh never practiced it~ Or heard of it til now 🤣

Wish I could, but the place that teaches it is too far away plus it's at the wrong time.

Oh you are so lucky!
I wish I could, all we have around here is fencing and bootleg karate. 🤨
It sounds like fencing though, Is it similar like with the movements?

no fencing is closer to kendo.
In Iaido you do not spar with a partner but with the image of an enemy. We have to do several kata's and perform them as perfect as possible! It sounds very annoying at first but once your in it, it really becomes an addiction! And you really have to see it and do one or two lessons to really know what it is all about!

I'd rather choose a ryuu that include iaijutsu, battoujutsu and kenjutsu. But it's a shame that usually the modern practice of kenjutsu is more ritualic and doesn't have real practice to win in a real sword fight. Of course there's no need to actally know how to really win a sword fight, but I'd still like it more than just keeping to tradition going. That should be part of it, but if that's all it is, it becomes too ritualic. Iaijutsu hasn't gone in as bad direction, and neither has battoujutsu, but that's because there has never been actual combat practice; they would practice their skills in kenjutsu training also.
Far-off places with sweet sounding names.
