Anyone know any good Japanese rock songs or artists? The ones I like are kinda modern punk-ish like ONE OK ROCK. I dislike heavy metal and screamo though (no offense to fans dead ). Singer must be male with a good voice biggrin .

More examples:Bump of Chicken, Ellegarden, Heidi., Acid...ect..

Plastic Tree - Ryuutarou's voice is amazing~

Although many also categorized them as visual kei, but I don't think they are really that extreme. Also, I can't speak for their newer releases. I prefer their older material better.

Asian Kung Fu Generation had some songs for naruto. Sometimes Arashi and NewS has some Jrock songs as well, but they are mainly for Jpop.

Hm... Lots of these reccomendations is pop-ish stuff...

http://www.undermusik.com/ <- has lots of underground jrock.

My suggestions, based on my mp3 collection:
9mm Parabellum Bullet - some people call it 'math rock', they're kinda progressive/alternative, similar in style to AKFG but harder and with better lyrics.
10-feet - punkish, with a little hiphop
astralmess - new hardcore
beat crusaders - pop punk, but still good
crossfaith - punk/metal/trance. awesome new band, all like 19 years old, too.
dragon ash - old stuff, like first 3-4 albums, have a heavy punk rock/hiphop vibe, one of my favorite bands. newer albums suck.
Fact - new awesome band, emo/metal/alternative.
gun dog - PTP's vocalist's old band. they're decent as far as nu metal goes.
hot squall - pop punk, but decent, don't like the vocalist
hyde is good, though he's only put out 2 solo albums, they're produced by the same guy that does Nine Inch Nails, and its good hard rock.
J is good too, though his solo stuff is impossible to find (ex bassist of Luna Sea), punkish metal stuff.
jinn - cool indie rock sound.
last alliance has a few good songs, but they're one of those bands you download the good songs and delete the rest 'cause they suck.
Luna Sea is one of my favorite jrock bands of all time. Rosier, nuff said. Covered (shittily) by HandMC.
Miyavi is okay. His metal shit is really good, his acoustic/one-man-band stuff, while impressive to watch, is boring as fuck.
Maximum the Hormone is a staple. If you don't like them, you are lame.
NAFT is good too, they're kinda like astralmess. Nothing of good quality on youtube, but they sound good on album.
Pay money To my Pain - awesome emo/metal.
stance punks - not the best, but good melody and retro sound.
the brilliant green - not normally my stuff, but their 1st album has a really nice indie sound, the rest is kinda blah.
veltpunch - more indie stuff. complex.
waterweed - fucking awesome. that is all.
x japan - good staple. along with luna sea that's pretty much all you need for 'classic jrock'.

phew... I probably missed some. let me know if I hit a bullseye with any.

I second Asian Kung Fu Generation ALL THE WAY. They are a punkish, power rock kind of band with catchy riffs and overall amazing chemistry. At first they were indie, then they became more punkish. I really recommend them. The vocalist has a good voice and good versatility to match the songs. Since you like Ellegarden (which this band is good friends with), i recommend this band.

(As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of this band)

Asian Kung Fu Generation is the
kind of music you'd expect to hear
in the Japanese version of Tony Hawk's
Pro Skater.

I second Asian Kung Fu Generation and The GazettE. I've heard of a band called 12012 from my friend, give it a try it if you want.
The GazettE are quite popular as a j-rock band and I hope you'd give them a listen, same goes for Asian Kung Fu Generation too.
