I personally dislike web comics and one shots because the chapters are way to short. So i don't want to bother reading them so when i see a new series and find out its a web comic i get bummed out. Same with one volume mangas. If there is a way you guys can put a filter for web comics and one shots it would be greatly appreciated.

dont mean to burst your bubble but no matter how much sense these suggestions make, Mangaupdates crew doesn't acknowledge most feedback, this whole bugs and suggestions bit is only for the sake of bullshitting us to think that they actually care.
they simply would not take the time out of there day to actually try to make any progressive changes, they are just stubborn like that.
if you don't believe me go ahead and review the archives of things people suggested, all of them go ignored, or even deleted.
the ones that they do read

  1. they end up responding by saying "we have had this request before"
w/o an answer to if they considered them or not...
  2. they end up criticizing your idea, whether it makes sense or not, to a point where it makes you lose fate in such service...

-sorry its the reality.

Suggestions get read... each one doesn't have to get replied to it.

Also, there's only a few people that actually work on the coding of the site... so, suggestions are slow to implement.

And.. don't be a tool.

Learn to code and use the site as a feed.
Filter yourself.
Also, tokio_homi, your mom might still wipe your ass
but the MU staff does not work for you. They are not paid
for any of this. Just be happy you don't use notepad
and google for your manga. Last major thing that got implemented
was categories.

Don't you think you're too lazy??
I mean you don't need to read the whole chapter to find out if it's oneshots or webcom.
In the series page, they put notes if it's webcom or oneshots.
I notice sometimes, some webcoms don't put original webcomic in their descriptions. Such as Crepuscule. Well, take notice of its scanlation group then.. For example, most of easygoingscans' works are webcoms (and they're doing great!).

to Kisuke28: Hm, so you want to exclude web comics, oneshots, and one-volume series. There's a different answer for each one.
-oneshots: No problem, just go to the advanced genre search and there's a box you can check to exclude oneshots from the search results.

-web comics: An easy way do to this would be if you could exclude a category in the advanced genre search (currently you can include specific categories in your search but not exclude them), as several members have suggested. It's on the long to-do list of improvements for the site, but only some of the MU staff are able to do coding, and the more difficult coding projects such as this one (which involves the search feature--searches are hard) tend to get put lower in priority.

-one-volume series: An easy way do this would be if you could have a column for number of volumes on the series list, and then you would be able to sort them, as has been suggested before. This is complicated to implement because many series have been printed more than once (special editions, reprints, change in publisher, etc.), and so they don't have just one number to use, unfortunately. Because of the complications and because most members can get by without it, it also gets put lower in priority.

For the web comics, comel's suggestion is probably the easiest (just check to see if web comic is in the description or is listed in the categories for the series), considering there are currently less than 200 web comic series listed here on MU. However, if you want to avoid clicking on them altogether, here's what you could do: Go to the categories section of the site and click on "Web Comic," which will give you a list of all of them. Then add all those series to a custom list (you could call it your black list), and choose what list type so that it'll get an icon that you want it to have. If it were me, I'd make it a dropped list so that it'd have the blue circle (since I identify the blue circle with series I don't like). Then you can easily avoid the web comic series by not clicking on series with the blue circle. That's a bit roundabout, but... well, it's just an idea. I can't think of anything for the single volume series though, sorry.

to tokyo homi: Hey, there's no need to be mean. Don't worry, suggestions do get read and considered by the staff, and the good ones are kept track of. It's just that the staff members who do the actual coding and the ones who have the authority to make the decisions of what gets implemented and what doesn't (and therefore are the most appropriate people to reply to the suggestions), are really busy (since they have the most responsibility), so they don't reply to most of what they read.

We currently have like 1 "active" coder, and he tends to do what he likes...

well through experience it just frustrated me that i would review suggestions and see how many where never answered...
but i didn't know that the situation was that you were running short on coders, so sorry for talking smack...

To be honest, if an admin never replied to it, then it's probably a good idea because we didn't shoot it down. I usually only reply to suggestion threads in order to shoot them down with a firm "no" and then lock the thread
