I just thought of something.

Al had been sitting in front of that door of truth since he gave Ed his arm back. Why couldn't Al give up his alchemy in return for getting his body back? It just didn't occur to him, or what? I guess alchemy was less important to Ed than to Al, after all.

I'd imagine he just didn't think of it. Al was being irrational, they were all about to die. He had to do something. Whereas Ed was relieved and had time to think of all the possibilities he could think of.

Anyways ending was just perfect...

Wow what an amazing ending. I cried buckets of tears (which I always do at the end of a great manga series whether happy or sad). Like other people have said the pictures at the end really provided a complete closure to the story. I don't have a sense of loss like I had at the end of other manga like TRC. My only sadness comes from the fact that

Ed can't use alchemy anymore and that there will be no more new pictures of Mustang to gawk over. ; ) Overall FMA is one for the history books and will always be one of my favorites. 😃

My thoughts:

In the beginning, I think it was because his soul wasn't there to control his body in front of the door. They were separated and his body was more on automatic mode ya know? But when Al gave up his soul to give Ed back his arm and reunited with his body, I think he needed someone ELSE to pull him through HIS OWN door? I guess Al could also have gone through Ed's door but I think Ed wasn't there so that didn't count. And it was too late for Al to give up his own alchemy since Ed was already in the middle of giving it up anyway. .......... I hope that made sense 6_9;;; I confused myself.

I have to say that was a wonderful ending. I don't think I've ever seen such a good end for a manga before.

Perfect Ending: flawless. 10/10
Epic ending for an epic series, I really thank the mangaka for writing it.

Oh on another note: you see that Ed & Al managed to pull off what they wanted (save everyone hurt by alchemy) in the last photo page, cause you see their sensei and husband with a son :3

Awesome series deserved an awesome ending, and the mangaka delivered 100% and then some.

Honestly, from the beginning. The first FMA anime + movie differs a lot from the manga.

there should be more posts. The greatest Shounen manga ever ended. It was deeper than Naruto or Bleach, it did never get boring, great characters, great ideas, it was just epic. We should all show our respect towards this manga and Arakawa-sensei

I started rereading the manga today and after reading the first chapter again, I can easily see why it was picked up. Science-like magic, chimeras, armor with a soul in it, and a human with 2 limbs made of steel. Not to mention he is pretty touchy about his height making for some funny moments.. It would be a wonder if it wasn't picked up...
Well.. Fun ride, great ending..
