if you are a time-slipping protagonist, what time period would you slip into?

prehistoric ( dinosaurs, etc )
ancient ( greek, roman civs. )
medieval ( knights, damsels )
renaissance ( musketeers )
future ( post-apocalypse )
future ( cutting edge techs )

2 choice future coz some might prefer the other...

Does your gf/bf read manga, or would you like your future gf/bf to share your hobby?

  • S/He reads manga
  • S/He doesn't read manga
  • I'd want her/him to
  • I don't want her/him to

Do you archive scanlations?

  • Yes, all of them.
  • Only the ones I like.
  • I read and delete.
  • I only read online.

Quote from hiei_luke

What will you do if your favourite/watched-list manga was already completed but the scanlation was too slow to keep up with your series:

  1. Zombie-mode search for the RAWS
  2. Keep up with the slow release, check every now & then
  3. Give up, might as well wait for the scanlation group to finish their job (come back after 5 years)
  4. Got other manga to read -> totally forgot about them

(remember, its only applies to your favourite or eager-to-read-'em-up series, not the "okay" series)

1)Yes
2)No

How about a poll on plagiarism (e.g. Eden no Hana by SUETSUGU Yuki? I always wanted to know how people deal with it.

Have you ever come across plagiarism in manga, and if you have, how did you react?

  • Yes, I have, and I dropped both the series and the author. Stealing other someone else's work is the worst!

  • Yes, I have, and I dropped the series, but continued reading the author's other manga. Everyone can make a mistake.

  • Yes, I have, and I continued reading the series, but avoided the author in future. I simply couldn't drop the manga, but I felt guilty afterwards.

  • Yes, I have, and I continued reading both the manga and the author's work. Copyright is overvalued and old-fashioned anyway.

  • No, I haven't seen any plagiarism so far.

What is your opinion on scanlation notes (like the ones on the sides of pages)?

-They shouldn't be used at all, it's distracting!
-They should only be used to clarify meaning/translations.
-They should only be posted at the end of the chapter.
-I like commentary, it's funny.
-I don't read them.

-a cocky character who has immense talent
-The hot-tempered character who is impulsive
-A very intelligent character who's a genius
-an average character who is nice, helpful, and loyal.

I don't know if this was ever suggested before, if yes, I apologize for repetition:

Which do you prefer that scanlators/fansubbers do when translating cultural/native language specific words, such as the honorifics or words like aniki; onisan, oyaji, etc, that have a subtle difference in meaning in their original language than their translated counterpart.

  • I do not care for nuances, I want everything translated into my language.
  • I like it better when those are left as is after a short explanation by the scanlators/fansubbers when used first, as the real meaning gets lost in translation.
  • I do not care either way.

What is your main purpose reading manga/manhwa/manhua/light novel?

  • to learn (something like culture, sport, culinary, history, etc.)
  • to enjoy my free time
  • to have some conversation material with friends
  • I wanna be a mangaka
  • to get some inspiration
  • to improve my imagination and creativity
  • nothing, just feel like it
