What an interesting poll. I'm surprised so many of us have knives in our bedroom, lol.
We have a random knife gifted to us that was supposed to do double-duty as a belt buckle, but is way too sharp for us to feel safe using it... so we just use it as a box cutter. I wonder what everyone else's bedroom knife is...

Not sure if this has been done before but something I've always wondered about as both a translator and a reader.
To create the best reading experience, what is the best way to translate Kansai-ben (or any other Japanese dialect)?
-Different Global English accent (EX: English, Australian, Irish, American etc)
-Different regional accent (EX if your base is US English: Southern accent, New Yorker.)
-Just make minor changes to speech patterns to denote their difference from other characters (Such as "g dropping" on "ing verbs" ) but not otherwise have any kind of accent.
-Have the character use slang words or distinctively different words than other characters use, but not otherwise have any kind of accent (EX: Other characters would use the word "dad" but the Kansai-ben character says "pops" instead)
-Don't bother translating it, just make a TL note of it if it's that important to the plot.
-Other?
I'm not the best at wording things lol, feel free to rephrase!
I know translating these kinds of things can be difficult because its hard to find a true equivalent in English that doesn't end up sounding very hokey and distracting. The above are all examples I've seen translators use to tackle the issue in the past, I have my own favorites and least favorites but just wondering what the general consensus is?

What is your opinion on localization in official translations?
-- I love it, I want to feel like the series was made in my own country. Removing all cultural elements(jokes, name order/using first names, all folklore references etc)
- Leave the images alone, SFXs are part of the art
- I hate it, I enjoy learning more about other cultures (have notes for SFX/signs, cultural references, name order/using first names etc)
