One of the answers to the current poll could have been, "I can get my manga from my local library." In all the hoo-haw going on in comment sections related to the coalition, I have never see anyone mention libraries.

BTW, if you don't have the money to buy the series you like, you can still support the artist by suggesting to your library that they should buy the mangaka's work. My library, SPL.org, gets something like ~7-10 copies each volume of more popular manga and a couple copies of less popular ones. Also, I think they carry multiple copies of many anime DVDs. I know they've had at least one copy of any anime title I wished to watch.

So, here's a poll suggestion:

Do you borrow manga from your library?

-- Oh, I wasn't aware that libraries carry manga fairly often these days. I'll make sure mine does, too, by giving them a megastack of book requests. Then, I'll check them out.

And yes, I am aware of the Florida woman whose 15-year-old son stole (i.e., stuffed in his backpack & did not check out) a volume each of Gantz and Psychic Academy from a high shelf in the adult section of his local Liberry. She said that they absolutely broke his mind (messing with it I can see, but breaking it?) and now he's in a facility being given intensive therapy and she's trying to get manga banned from her library. But I didn't want to work that into the poll. 😛
