I created this topic so that I could see what kind of conclusions did you come to while you watched Higurashi no naku koro ni and Kai. Most of the questions were cleared but there are still some like... How did Shion come back to life and kill Keichi in the hospital?
What symptoms do the 1st, 2nd and 4th stage of the Hinamizawa Syndrome initiate?
Why does Miyo Takano always open Rikas stomach when she kills her and so on and so on
So let me hear your answers confused

Seriously, only read this if you've watched both seasons, and saw the clip at the end of the second, and it still probably won't make sense unless you've at least read about Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
It's all Bernkastel's fault. Or, rather, hers and LambaDelta's. They apparently played some sort of "game" in 1983. That said, I don't know much about Bernkastel (the lady at the end of Kai) except that she is a: a witch, b: that she can manipulate the time shards, and c: that she is not Furude Rika (she says she isn't during one of the game's tips, I think.)

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Thats right, to give out your opinion you have to have watched both seasons and can you please tell me when Bernkastel tells her do you want to live and not see your friends or die and get the flag she chose death right(she got the flag) but was that a flashback or here life begining in a new world

I think that was just Bernkastel showing off. She can change one thing in the past and alter the scenario completely, it was probably just a test of some sort. Although I think one of the chapters yet to be adapted (probably will be in the third season) is Saikoroshi hen, which is a perfect world where nothing bad ever happened. It's possible that instead of it being Rika's dream (it's an epilogue to Matsuribayashi-hen), they altered it to Miyo never losing her parents in an alternate scenario by Bernkastel. In short, I don't know for certain, but I'm guessing that it's nothing permanent regardless of the explanation.

Also, she doesn't choose death, she gets angry when she hears her parents are going to the department store without her, and runs back, probably delaying her parents by a small amount of time, which results in the accident not being fatal? (I'd have to watch again to remember what exactly happens, I think they got on a later bus or something...).

As for the questions you asked in your first post-
If you remember, it was Mion's body they found dead, and Keiichi still thought it was Mion. It turned out that it was Shion, so she didn't actually come back from the dead. The other piece was a delusion of Keiichi's, probably brought on by hinamizawa syndrome.

Takano opens Rika's stomach because that was part of the ceremony that was the origin of the cotton festival. They sacrificed someone and dragged out their entrails (starting with the stomach, I assume) in order to please the "demons".

I don't know what symptoms accompany which stage, but I assume Oyashiro always following you is 4th stage. 1st is probably "nothing visible" and second is the persecution complex and the like. Not sure though.

The only question I really have is what the real ending will be in the anime. In the canal-drying (forgot the Japanese, sorry) chapter (the "true end") there is a slightly different ending where

Hanyuu dies.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Hopefully Yumineko will get an anime adaptation after this as well.
