This week's poll was inspired by lollylopmr. How long have you been reading those long series like One Piece of Detective Conan?

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Which is your favorite Powerpuff Girl?
Choices:
Blossom - votes: 488 (20.1%)
Bubbles - votes: 597 (24.6%)
Buttercup - votes: 673 (27.8%)
I never watched this show - votes: 667 (27.5%)
There were 2425 total votes.
The poll ended: June 8th, 2024 2:53pm PDT

Oh wow, more people like Buttercup than haven't watched the series. Wasn't expecting that

I mean I'm currently up to date on Conan and I started reading it 20 years ago, but I've taken multi-year breaks in reading it. Similarly I have every intention of catching back up on One Piece some time, even if I haven't read it in years.

I'm voting 20+, but I don't think I've steady read anything more then 3-5 years

10-15 years thanks to one of the big 3 (Bleach), which I suspect is how a lot of others ended up reading over such a long period of time. Since then, I haven't strictly followed a manga for too long before taking a break (2-3 years at most).

10-15 years closer to 15... But in 5-6 years it probably will be 20+ if Skip Beat is still ongoing by then or 7-8 years if it will be Tower of God instead that reaches 20 years first... All the other long series i either dropped or they got completed...

At first, I want to answer 10-15 years for Akatsuki no Yona, but then I remember Detective Conan and HunterxHunter which I've read since 20 years ago.. 😂
And now, not only HiatusxHiatus goes on hiatus, but even Detective Conan too.

HiatusxHiatus I've been reading for a long time. But even Skip Beat has been going for 20+ years... yet they barely got together (?) 🤨

Does JOJO count? I've been reading it since 2017. Other manga that comes to my mind is Spy x Family and MHA which I started 2019. It's bit funny to see that 2019 was 6 years ago 😂

I usually read finished manga that I read in less than a month. I can't imagine myself follow manga for more than 10 years, but congrats to people who can!

I think it's 20 for me with Hajime no Ippo, so 16-20 years. There's One piece too...

Otoyomegatari and Akatsuki no Yona — enough said.

So 10-15 years (possibly sixteen; I don't remember precisely went I started them, just that they had fewer than ten chapters scanlated, I think it was 2010 or 2011? ). That being said, I'm not usually the "slow-and-steady" type of reader, so I generally wait a while then binge… repeatedly. Otoyomegatari's pretty much the only exception to that — I've never really put that one on pause (reread it, definitely; put it on the back burner, not at all).

I accidentally clicked the wrong option (20+ years), unfortunately (not that there's anyway to fix that).

I have been reading One Piece for a 23 years. Dito HxH but that ones comes and goes. Those are it when it comes to still ongoing manga with the same title. 27 years for Batman comics.

I passed 20 years of One Piece earlier this year! Discovered it when Viz volumes first came out, was caught up to the fansub and scanlation before the 4Kids dub ever started airing, then dropped the anime around 2006 because it was full of too much filler time.

But I've never taken a break from the One Piece manga. I was in middle school (age 13) when I found it, I didn't miss a weekly chapter even during my time at MIT from 2009-2014 (bachelor's & master's)

I'm actually at close to those numbers with Hajime no Ippo and Detective Conan, but I started each of them a couple years later (high school, 2006 or 2007). Also there was a period where scanlations of each were dropped so I got forced to have a few months of break on each even though I was intending to stay caught up. That never happened to One Piece.

It's definitely One Piece, but I'm not entirely sure how long, around 23~25 years.

It's been quite a journey! I started reading while I was in primary school and for the most part kept up to date for the entire duration, now I'm showing it to my kids who are primary school students. 😀

Started reading Skip Beat in the English Shojo Beat magazines back in 2006 or so.
