I'd have to be ridiculously curious. In the example with the box I would probably just not open it since I don't want to be bothered with any consequences of something that didn't make me painfully curious.

Probably not...? I've had "authority" drilled into me so much that I really, really hate having to break rules or do something questionable, so I wouldn't touch that box. But if by "do something, anything, just to do it" you're talking about going on a last-minute trip to Vegas or riding that rollar coaster, I'd be first in line.
