Hy every1 i'm Alex...hence my nick (not very original i know, but i don't mind)
I'm not sure as to how i should make this post so i'll just write what come to mind.

I'm a 21 y.o. collage student from Romania.
**Romania=**just u'r average former communist country in witch 2 out of 100 ppl know what manga is (and if u'r lucky 1/500 has actually read something), thankfully anime has gained some popularity over the past year due to a new tv channel... but ppl still look at u funny if u'r over 14 and still watch "cartoons" (just goes to show what kind of mentality ppl have here)

I first got introduced to anime when i was 7 or 8 although i don't remember witch series it was (i remember watching "Sailor Moon" on an Italian network though). But as i got older even though i never stopped watching anime that occasionally was aired on tv (especially Germany's RTL2...until the bastards from the cable company cut the program 4 years ago) i never got the chance to talk to somebody about my interests...i tried talking to some friends but they just looked at me funny whenever i brought it up, so after a while i stopped trying (guess that's the reason why even though i've been a member for about 6 months...until today i just had 3 posts on the forums).

The first manga i've evar read was "One Piece" about a year ago (don't know why i did it...probably boredom & because i liked the anime several years ago) and i have to say i was captivated... i have something like an obsessive-compulsive disorder about the things that i like: finished reading "Shogun" by James Clavell in 4 days & "One Piece" in like 3 (yes i'll admit it...i'm a freak...when i was playing KOTOR 2 i stayed awake for 4 days just to finish the game).
Anyway after "One Piece" i was hooked and i kept experimenting with different genres and drawing stiles ...except yaoi (never yaoi...guy on guy is just not my thing).

The series were dropped because i didn't like the art or how the story started (usually i can tell by the end of the first volume if i'm gonna like a series or not...although i do sometimes go back on my decision if i'm bored & with nothing else to read).
Recently i started to look for shojo series...but i'm new in that field and i didn't find many that could appeal to an average male reader.

I found this site 10 months ago and i have to say i liked it very much, i decided to become a member 5-6 months by accident (i think the site was malfunctioning at the time...because u could only check the releases if u were a member...so i became a member ) 😁
Ever since then i whould check the forums but seeing as i've been a recluse almost all my life i had no desire to participate in the discussions. I know this is something a stalker might say but over the many months of watching from the shadows i feel that i know many members of the forums... so i decided to correct my twisted ways and become a participant rather than an observer...hope to get along with everyone 😀

Now enough of baring my soul to the world... let's continue the introductions:
As i've said i'm a 21 y.o. collage student from Romania. My other "obsessions" before stumbling on to manga were: reading books(8 years ago) < RPG's(6 y.a.) < MMORPG's(3 y.a.) < comic books(3 y.a.) < T.V. series(2 y.a.) < manga(present)...although i still do the stuff mentioned above manga is now on top (and probably will stay there for a while longer).
I'm 180 cm tall, brown eyes & long hair... although for the past week my father (yes i still live with my parents) has been chopping away at it in my sleep 2-3 cuts at a time 😢 but i'm keeping my resolution not to give in to his sneaky tactics (even though my hair looks like s**t now and i'm ashamed to show my face in public).

T.V preferences: anything goes, especially comedy. The shows that i followed this year were: "Heroes", "Prison break", "Battlestar Galactica" & "Veronica Mars"

Music preferences: same as t.v. ...anything goes, i used to have a phase when i listened to "Sonata Arctica", "Running Wild", "Nightwish"...i like all good music (when i was like 14 i evan had a clasical music phase). The only genres that come to mind now that i dislike are:
1) manele - a local genre much loved by the stupid masses here...u'r lucky if the song has 10 verses in it...it just repeats the same s**t over & over ad naseum, and has only 3 subjects: money, wemen & enemies (there r thousands of songs with just 3 subjects...as i'v stated music for stupid ppl)
2) the type of rock music where the singer growls, roars & yells so that u can't understand a word he's saying (i'm not into the whole categorization of music... if i like it i like it, i don't care what it's called )

Games preferences:
RPG's: played many but consider "Diablo II" nr.1 in my book
MMORPG's: MuOnline (gave that game 2 years of my life...stopped playing 3 years ago), Lineage 2 (one of the best)
others: shooters, strategy games, racing games & others... too many to mention
I've never been any good at making friends so i had a lot of free time on my hands.

Book preferences: i'm just gonna tell a few titles from universal literature that i've enjoyed cuz there's no point enumerating romanian books: Frank Herbert's "Dune" series; Isaac Asimov's "I Robot"; Stephen King's "The Shining"; James Clavell's "Shogun"; the Harry Potter series...and many others that don't come to mind (just remembered Bram Stoker's "Dracula"...i am from Transilvania after all)

Good personality traits: open minded, funny, intelligent (i'm pretty sure there r more but none come to mind 🙄 , and i don't want ppl to think i'm bragging)

Bad personality traits: shy, introverted (maybe to much so), lazy as hell

This concludes my chapter of "Introductions", i whould like to thank the ppl who had the patience to read this entire post (hope i didn't bore you to much with my lame a** confession) & i think u'll certainty be hearing from me from here on out.

Well I guess most people that stay in the shadows and are scary stay in the shadows and continue studying/analyzing 😉.

Anyhow, welcome to the site (though you've been floating around for a while 😉) and yes, I guess that was your life story. 😉 Or mostly the anime/manga related parts. 😉 And I guess you're already found a place since you can sort of share your interests here with like-minded people. 🙂

Your Introduction got mehtingking... why nto post a message.... this is the first message i've posted on this site... i usally jsut use it to grab my manga but you and me have alot in common. i mean i live in australia, Yes there are alot of manga/anime fans here... but the problem is im 15 years old and all my friends are into other stuff like gaming, anarchism(yes... one of them is) pyromaniacism... if thats even a word and the sorts liek that... i think you could call it the not so cool group but has some social status??

but yes. i can relate... especially that hair part... 🤣 my dad keeps pushing me t get a haircut... i menai ts not even THAT long... i used to haev buzz cuts (number 2 all over) but i wanted a chnge of style 😐 but yeah.

U'r wright the reason is stupid... it just so happens that he has almost the exact same stupid way of obsessively pursuing a goal as me... so one day a week ago he found the drain of the bathtub clogged with my hair (not just mine since no1 paid any attention to it)...but it got into his head that my hair is "the root of all evil"
There's no helping it now (protest is useless...he's as stubborn as a goat) so he just cuts away at it in my sleep.
