I think it has to do with the fact that guys generally don't like to express too much of their emotions and weaknesses, but then the girls think guys are insensitive and the guys also think the girls are insensitive... maybe...

I think, in general, guys like to express themselves through their actions, where as girls like to do it through discussion. I saw a statistic once that the average girl talks 5-6 times more than the average guy. So a guy that says 500 words in an average day a girl will say 2500-3000 words in the same day. This is where I think a lot of the misunderstandings between men and women come from.

Probably due to the saying "Action speaks louder than words." It's easy for many people to say "I love you" and not mean it.
