Hello, I'm looking for decent cosplays I can do. A few physical attributes about myself: I'm a 5'7" tall asian male whose pretty average in every way. I also have black hair.

I really don't mind which manga/anime it's from as long as it looks somewhat decent. I want to cosplay shoujo stuff but I rarely ever find any cosplays that aren't school uniforms... Extreme action manga/anime is nice but it can't be too elaborate.

I can sew(or get someone to help my sew) a costume if needed but I'm just not creative enough to decide on a cosplay myself. All the characters I like have pretty horrible cosplays, aka school uniform or crazy battle gear. I want something the stands out but is not too crazy. I have decently cosplayed as Light Yagami from death note before and it looked pretty nice. I can also buy cosplays but I have a fairly tight budget and prefer the cosplays to at least be less than 50$. Sorry for the picky demands but any suggestions will help, thanks in advance!

The Anime Characters Database website is a good place to start if you want to go into specifics. You can customize your search to find the right type of character for you to cosplay. If you still couldn't find any than I'll give you a few suggestions ^^

You said you wanted to do a Shoujo (action) cosplay but do you have any other preferences (modern, historical, Fantasy, Science-fiction)? Maybe you could name some of your favourite characters? Anyone from any genre is fine, as long as we get an impression on which sort of costume you like.

Personally, I'd say anyone from OZAKI Kaori's Immortal Rain (e.g. Zol Balfaltin (same height) or Rain Jewlitt (taller)) would be pretty cool but their costumes might be too elaborate.

Do you need anything else beside the costume like behaviour, manner of speech etc.?

What about Castor from 07 ghost? He should be a bit taller tough, but a black haired asian should suit his image

If you don't mind a wig, Kenshin Himura's cosplay outfit is pretty simple, from Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X. It's a romance-action manga/anime, so perhaps it would work. If you don't minds a wig for long hair. It's a kimono. 😃

Shoujo but not school uniform...

How about Count Cain from God Child? It would be Victorian dress clothes, a bit Goth. Characters from any of her series might work. The problem with Cain is that people might think you are doing Black Butler. 🤣

Sakuya from Kaikan Phrase, look like a rock star.

You could try a character from classic shoujo, such as Juli from Heart of Thomas. This is a school uniform, but since it is 19th century, it is different enough to not look like Ouran. If your hair is long enough, you could do Iron Klaus of From Eroica with Love. He is a NATO intelligence officer, and always wears a suit. Or if you are willing to wear a big curly wig, you could do Dorian from the same series, and dress flamboyantly.

For action, maybe Ken or another character from Weiss Kreuz.
Bus Gamer is one of my favorite little series. Any of those characters.
Trinity Blood is action shoujo, but those costumes would be more elaborate.
