On the group info page, there is a section that shows if a group is active. I would like to suggest instead of just two states, Yes and No, a third state, Closed is included. The problem could be seen on groups that have stopped, such as Fifay.net. They are still being shown as active even though they have closed down on March 11 2007.

I thought No meant they are closed. Can a group not release for 6 months and still be open?

We have a little text there that talks about the 6 months thing... honestly, when a group closes we usually put a little note in the notes section...

Well, to be honest, I did see the note, but only after I went to the listed site. By the way, an inactive group are those that simply fade away, that is having no releases for a long time, while closed groups are those that officially state that they will stop scanlating.

There is no technical definition. Plenty of groups just close their doors but don't tell us, so we can't put a note. The "Active" part of a group page is done by a script, so we can't permanently change it even if we wanted to (I tried...several times...) You judge for yourself if a group's active or not by looking at their release history and visiting their website (if the website doesn't exist anymore, I figure that's a good indicator that the group closed)
