look at the poll to your left...
Me, same with the majority of votes...I only know of a new series when I come to MU and see a new series on the release page and decide to try it out...
Second would be recommendation from others
and Lastly, would be the manga's popularity

I usually base it on the author's previous works. I think it's a good measure of the storytelling style, and the quality of the artwork.
After I decided I loved Kagen no Tsuki, I proceeded on to Nana and Paradise Kiss. I wasn't disappointed. Same goes for Count Cain--> Angel Sanctuary--> Fairy Cube --> Ludwig Kakumei. Choosing authors you already know minimizes the chance of you getting disappointed.

Yay!!! My poll got selected!! 😀
I had already forgotten about it, but when I saw it today it, looked kind of familiar. 😛
I use the "Advanced Search by Genre" option. I make a list with the genres I like, read the description of some manga, and when I find something that I like, I check the releases status, if some of it has already been released, or if the releases are frequent I start reading it.

i read what others tell meh is good, i hate looking for new manga, so i don't.
I check the releases page and use the "Series Stats" feature on the right bar. In the past just used to go by scanlation group.

My method is, a lot of
browsing(taking in account ratings,recomendations,
and sometimes even just the cover) and adding
anything that seems interesting to the wishlist.
After that, when the time comes that i wanna read something,
i make a thoroughed search through my wishlist, depending
on my mood to define the genre, and after that it usually
comes down to choosing between a few titles, then
i start reading, if i dont like the start i move to the next one
and leave the first for some other time... and thats it, the end!

I Have only been reading online for less than a year, so I always check MU and the hosting site that I use for new releases. If it's being hosted, I read it there, if not I go to the group site.

The mangaka's previous works (mostly because of artwork), the scanlation group sometimes 😛 but mostly by genre (what I voted).
Ever since I accidentally read shota because I went the random-series style I got scarred for life, so that method's the only one I won't ever use 🤢

Oh, I guess the shota was labelled then? 😲 Or maybe you didn't know how the Releases filtered worked at the time?
