Come on, we all remember the Disney Renaissance in the 90s! It was all the epic Disney movies we all still love today! Most of us were kids or really young when this thing was going on. Come on, you gotta remember going to see all these movies in t theaters, and (girls especially) going crazy over your favourite characters from your favourite movies. Haha.

But which one did you enjoy the BEST?

In my opinion, Aladdin is and always will be my #1. In my entire lifetime, I've probably watched it over 100 times, nearing 200 by now. There used to be a point in my life where, for around 2 years, I used to come home from school and watch it every other day. Sometimes up to 3 times in a row. ^^ The sequels, like most Disney movies, weren't NEAR as good as the original, but hell, they sure were better than other crap Disney popped out of their ass. You remember Lion King II, and Mulan II? Oh god, that was some horrible crap. ;__; MY CLASSICS!

But I've always loved Aladdin. Top notch music (Friend Like Me, Prince Ali, A Whole New World... my favourites), top notch characters, and top notch story. I love it all. Carpet + Genie FTW.

Now, in second place for me, comes the Lion King. That is a VERY epic movie. :< But of course, I've always loved Hamlet, so naturally I'll love Lion King too. ^_^ But it's a good movie, with good animation, and hella good music (ELTON JOHN FTW)! The characters are amazing too. I'll always love Timon and Pumba. Hakuna matata, anyone?

Now... third place for me is tied VERY close with Lion King. This is Mulan! Mulan is probably my favourite Disney princess. She's not a stupid damsel-in-distress waiting for her beautiful prince to come save her, but she's very brave and an amazing character that actually DOES something besides whining about her stupid Prince. Don't get me started on Shang - man, I'd steal him from her, I swear I would. XD I love Shang. ;_; Also, let's not forget the addicting-as-hell music. Reflection? I'll Make a Man Out of You? Some epic songs in that movie I just HAD to stick into my iPod. xD Plus, I'll Make a Man Out of You is really fun to sing. xD

Next to Mulan I have Hercules, since I just plain loved that movie. Unfortunately, I am unaware if they finally reproduced it to DVD (maybe Blu-Ray?), so I haven't watched that in awhile... I did watch it theathers, though, and I loved it! Still do now~ I might just go and download it now... (Pirating? >_> Oh, no way. I am very innocent and legally downlo- er, I mean, BUY my stuff)

After Mulan I have Beauty and the Beast. Then Little Mermaid. Then Hunchback of Notredame (I used to be obsessed with Esmeralda). Then Tarzan. And finally, Pocahontas. Don't get me wrong, I did like Pocahontas. But I didn't like it as much as the others. ^^;

This ends my Disney rant... but really, all great movies. I do wish Disney would go back to creating epic movies like that (though the ones they have with Pixar ain't half bad - Finding Nemo? Wall-E? All great D 🙂

Now... your favourites?

I'll go with Hercules, which I should mention is on DVD, you just really really have to look, from the version I have it's just the movie no special features.

Aladdin all the way.

Even though its old, the animation, along with the voices and good writing, makes this movie as enjoyable as it was when it first came out in theaters.

I love The Lion King the most, but when I was little I would have said Aladdin or The Little Mermaid. I used to watch those movies over again until my mom nearly cried. I don't own any of them anymore since we used to have them all on VHS but we don't have a VCR anymore 😢

I would have to say The Lion King is my favorite followed by Mulan, but one that made a lasting impact, from my childhood was Bambi . It totally broke my heart. I would still shed tears over that one today.

Mulan 😀
Then followed by Pocahontas. Ah the good old days of watching Mulan constantly on the Disney Channel (back then when it was good)

Tarzan.
I've never dreamed of having opposable feet before I saw that movie.

The Lion King was my favorite followed closely by Aladdin followed by Pocahontas and then Mulan. None of the others really stayed with me too much.

Um...Mulan's a classic? Personally, I view The Lion King as the bench mark; anything before was a "classic" and anything after was baby steps down to stupid. I mean, yes, I loved them at the time, but we never owned them and when I watch them now, I just don't think they're all that great, not good enough to be up there with the real classics.

Where's Bambi and The Jungle Book? Sleeping Beauty? Cinderella? Snow White, Pinnocio, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmations, The Sword and the Stone, The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Rescuers & The Rescuers Down Under, The Fox and the Hound, The Great Mouse Dective, Oliver & Company, Alice in Wonderland. Those are the movies I watched when I was young. Am I just that old?

Anyway, my personal favorite is Beauty and the Beast. I used to love that when I was young, forgot about it, and then got back into it in 8th grade and still love it. Part of it is, I just love all the different variations on those particular Brothers Grimm stories (yes, there is more than one version just with the Grimm Brothers).

As far as story line, Alladin is probably second, but for music, it's either The Lion King or The Jungle Book. I once got my entire high school singing Hakuna Matata...

From your list? The Lion King, but I like Cinderella a lot better.

If you had asked me when I was about 4, I would've said Snow White and The Little Mermaid.

Gah! So hard but I have to say Pocahontas. I was obsessed with that film as a kid, I would watch it all the time. I still love to do so. After Pocahontas it would be Aladdin and the Lion King. I used to adore Timon and Pumba, I would watch the TV series and everything.

Most Disney sequels were shamfully bad. Though I did like the Lion King sequels (Lion King 3 purely for comic value, me and my mate were really hyper and feeling nostalgic when we watched it so it might have seemed better than it actually was), I didn't like Aladdin 2 so much (though it is actually watchable compared to most of them). The other sequels though are just not worth mentioning.

So many more not on that list were in my video collection. Personally I hated Pinocchio, it freaked the Hell out of me and to this day I am scared of puppets because of that film. I mean a talking, walking puppet that becomes a donkey? WTF!? The end of The Little Mermaid when Ursula became huge scared me as well, I used to fast forward through that part, lol. The Fox and The Hound would always make me cry, but Bambi only made me cry when I re-watched it a couple of years ago and I understood that his mother had actually died. Disney used to be very scary and upsetting considering it's target audience, lol.

Nothing beats THE LITTLE MERMAID! Princess movies FTW. Though I am a fan of some of the older classics (I appreciate quality animation). If you have to talk about the best it would be a princess of the sea, who doesn't like mermaids?!? It has great animation (still held up the quality from years before) and it had great songs.

If I have to go for more of current obsession it would be Mulan. It definitely captivated me for many years (well still a favorite). I also like the music from Mulan starts humming "I'll Make a Man Out of You"

I seem to have a thing for Princess movies and the soundtracks from most of the Disney animated movies.

...despite my liking/owning/watching The Lion King, it sometimes can be a bit overrated.

  • disgruntled...why? because is reminded of how bad animated films are now-a-days*
