Uh... Why the heck would they not have a dominant female MC?

The target demographic does not translate into any kind of requirements to the age, personality or sex of the main character.

For example, Murciélago and Teppuu are both Seinen series with dominant female MCs and they both rock harder than most Seinen.

Now if we were to ask something like "why is a cry baby, weak-willed, sparkly eyed, naive little girl the MC of a Seinen", it would make slightly more sense, but even then, there is no reason why such MC could not exist.

I have no problem with the fact that the main character is female but that does not bear Male Demographic with Female Lead label. I have a problem with that though is the main character is male all the main events taking place around women, and male mc is relegated to sidekick.

Defining something as Seinen does not rule out any kind of possible combinations of character focus. Neither is that kind of focus shift from one character to another related or limited to Seinen in particular.

I have a hard time getting any kind of argument for your case from your posts. Perhaps you should consider what the definition of Seinen actually means.

Seinen
From Google:
Seinen means "young Man." Manga and anime that specifically targets young adult males around the ages of 18 to 25 are seinen titles. The stories in seinen works appeal to university students and those in the working world. Typically the story lines deal with the issues of adulthood. From wiki

Seinen manga (青年漫画?) is a subset of manga that is generally targeted at men from ages 17 on into their 40's. In Japanese, the word seinen means "young man" or "young men." Seinen manga are distinguished from the more sex-focused seijin-muke manga (成人向け漫画 often classed in western fandom as 'hentai') although there is sexual content of a softcore nature in some of the seinen strips. The female equivalent to seinen manga is josei manga.

Shōnen manga: intended for boys
Shōjo manga: intended for girls
Josei manga: intended for women
Kodomo manga: intended for children

  1. Nice triple post. Next time, edit your post instead.

  2. You forgot to copy/paste a rather important bit from wikipedia: "Seinen manga have a wide variety of art styles and variation in subject matter, ranging from the avant-garde through sports, games, business or action/adventure on to the erotic."

  3. None of that conficts with what I posted before. By definition, Seinen does not limit the actual subject nor the characterisation in any way or form in regards to the age, gender, or personality of the protagonists or the character focus of the narrative. Seinen is a definition of the intended target demographic. Within that demographic, there is a wide market for all kinds of different flavours of Seinen.

After all, you couldn't possibly be arguing that all Seinen suffer from heavy female focus. Or could you?

Read shounen then, because it fits better.

But seriously, I think Baalzebup's answer sums it up pretty well.
