I know it's really stupid to ask this here, but I've googled it and I still couldn't find an answer.
It's hot, so I use a fan. But it stands on my table, and my laptop is also on that table. I can feel it vibrate when the fan is on. Is that bad for the laptop?

is there a cd drive? is there a cd in there? take the cd out if it is.

probably just activity from the hard drive

I wouldn't worry about it if the laptop still works fine

If it's just vibration from the fan then there shouldn't be a problem. It'd be a bigger problem if the fan made your table shake. Big risk of hard drive head crash if it is a mechanical one. Well, with the active hard drive protection that most laptops uses there's little chance of that happening anyways. 🙂

That's what I meant, that the fan made the table shake. So it's still a right. Okay, thank you! 😉

And just to prove how awesome mangaupdates.com is, here we can also get advice on how to save our laptops from future destruction.

But thanks guys, I was also wondering the same thing.

It could be potentially harmful if it continues to vibrate for really long periods of time... but then again most laptops that are made for everyday office use and designed to take a beating... take my laptop for example, my baby cousins have knocked it off the table twice (3 foot fall), my cat bumped it off my coffee table twice (foot and a half fall), and I've dropped it three times from about chest height... yah and it still works, shocking I know lol. In other words as long as it's not a $2,000 Alien Ware it's, more than likely, built to last. Trust me I know. 😛

Depends on your laptop. I guess, netbooks with a SSD wouldn't mind viration much since they are also designed to be taken on bikes or other shaking means of transport.
And some devices are simply indestructable like the Nintendo Game Cube. I stored mine in a damp, unheated garage for years, and when I dug it up again, it still ran flawlessly.
