I call my parents by their first names, always have for as long as I can remember.
No one else just uses first names?

I'm from the US.
As to why, why not? I guess everyone else called then by name so I did too, and they didn't mind so that's what we (older brother & I) have always called them.

Mum --> 媽咪 (pronounced "ma-me")
Dad --> Daddy
When referring to them I'd call them mum and dad, but when I'm addressing them directly I'd use the latter choices.

Mom --> Mom or Mami
Dad --> Papi or his nickname we gave him "Nylon". We usually call him by his nickname, he pretends he minds but he doesn't. When we want something we use Papi, nah, I kid, we do call him Papi too

I'm Filipino, and I call my mom "mama" or "mommy" and my dad "dad" or "daddy."
I think it's important to take in consideration what your nationality is or where you came from/where you live right now since different cultures have different ways of calling their parents~

Dad - "Lo Dou"
Mom - It varies, depending why I'm calling her.
I mostly call her "ma-me." When I need something quick, "Mom" or just "Ma." I sometimes visit my mom at work and she doesn't want her co-workers to know I'm her daughter (long story) and so I call her "tai-tai." And I've gotten into a habit of saying that so sometimes I call her that at home for fun. (:
I refer to her as Usually as just "mom" or "mommy" when I'm trying to be cute. :3
And of course, "Hey!" Works for both parents.
