Gameplay has significant lag on my end also. I only played on random though so I wouldn't know if that had an affect. ** The only time I don't notice lag is when I'm just observing matches.** Hopefully this problem will be resolved soon.
Same thing on my screen when I'm a spectator of a match. I put 50 gold coins on Lucas during my first witness match. I won in the end and got money. Who would have thought Sonic, Ike, and Zelda/Shiek would lose that match?
In the end. If your experiencing it. I hope the problem is fixed soon. I really want to play the game (online really).

Smash bros is (usually) more about experience than the characters the players are using and Lucas is actually pretty good in the right hands. Just to check, during online play how often did you see players just standing still throughout the match like they had connection drops. That happened with me on several occasions.

Can't say that I have seen any characters standing around in a middle of a spectator match. I only spectated once since I had the game. Of course skills plays a major role in this game but I didn't think Lucas could be played so well. When the control is in my hand with the character. I cry because I can't use them properly.
I do feel ashamed about one thing. My younger brother released every character but I don't think he has every stage. He finished that adventure mode and I stopped right after 26%. I know I'm missing out on something good here but oh well.

The single player options doesn't do much for me besides seeing the cut scenes. The platforming doesn't draw me in as well as other side scrollers because the environments aren't as open. Most are pretty much set on rails really. There isn't much to explore between the point a to point b scenerios. The two player mode in SSE doesn't work too well either. Meanwhile everything else I've pretty much seen before in Melee; the home run contest, the special events, the trophy gathering etc. In the end SSBB it is still all about the multi-player brawls. I unlocked all the characters and probably all the stages by brawling alone.

So you can tell when someone loses their connection! How quickly does the computer take-over for them?

Sadly the CPU doesn't take over. The character just stands still throughout the match. I'm just assuming they lost connection of course. For all I know, a player or two is just taking a leak while reserving a spot in a fight. It's a reasonable assumption since there is a wait time between all online matches. Still, it happens a lot on my end. It isn't that uncommon for me to see a match with only one character actually playing besides myself.

Well... Quite the opposite from what Nintendo said was supposed to happen... Actually I think I would prefer it that way, so you actually know when you are fighting people.

I think there is a way that your able to edit your character taunts and have bubbles over their heads with text in them which you write down. I think there is also suppose to be your screenname or Brawl name over your character when fighting since you have to write one down before entering wifi brawl. At least that's what I read in a magazine a while back.
I have yet to experiment with the idea yet.

Yeah, that only in friend matches. You need to get someones friend code in order to do that. This Thread has some friend codes, and websites have friend codes as well.
By the way, people online are wak. I usually leave my character select on random in order to get a challenge.

Seems your enjoying the online experience Calliber. Do you by any chance have any lag during gameplay?
X-Play mentioned that the game is lag free but it has crossed my mind many times that it's my connection.

@SirGir
I've actually had the CPU fill in during four man brawls if the brawl starts but no one takes the slot. Maybe the system only works if a player's connection drops before the match starts.
@Atsuko
That's possible though I haven't tried that yet. I have customized the controls so that the C stick on the old controller would function as a b button though. It has an interesting affect in the air on certain characters like Lucas and Ness.
@Calliber
Have you played against the people who posted their friend codes on MU yet? I always wondered what level of Smash players wanders around the forums.
Spectator mode is recorded matches obvsly it doesn't lag
I also lag from time to time - it also depends on the person you're playing with.
FCs are less laggy for me

Damn. Didn't know that about spectator mode. Looks like I'll stick to youtube.

I don't own a Wii, but people around my dorm have the game, and I play there. I wonder if they'll let me put other friend codes in their Wii's.
I haven't experienced much lag because my dorm has T3. but of course when you play someone with a horrible connection, the server suffers cause it has to slow your bandwith. So I guess we just have to wait for the servers to get better, not that I expected Nintendo's server to be any good in the first place.
