Has anybody noticed the trend? Every single great pirate in the series(excluding shanks) dies of a strange sickness!

gol. D Roger = was dying of sickness
White beard = was dying of sickness
That doctor guy who brought up chopper = was dying of sickness
That skeleton guy's old captain = died of sickness!

what is this sickness that cant be cured and how come oda has never got into it?!
How come nobody has posted about it?!

and how did Luffy get that scar on his chest? how did Zolo loose his eye?

And why is sanjai's new eye so danm cool?

P.S. Im glade Frankey got his hair back 🤣

Lol, maybe some tropical thing or another.

How come nobody has posted about it?!
People didn't find it topic-worthy, until now. xD

**and how did Luffy get that scar on his chest? how did Zolo loose his eye? **
From stuff that happened in the past.

And why is sanjai's new eye so danm cool?
Er.... Sanji? Cuz obviously Oda wanted to up his cool factor... I guess? 😀

Well, pirates tend to die young...Terrible hygiene, vices, fights,etc...
Also in that age medicine wasnt as advanced..

yeah, one piece is a very beautified picture of pirate life, but probably no one ever died a natrual death. So pepole dying from diseases is perfectly fine.

The sickness thing really isn't so surprising; a lot of people died of sickness back then and Gol. D Roger and White Beard were both powerful enough to not be killed by the navy or other pirates. Living on the ocean, especially back in the day and for such long periods of time, it isn't so surprising that they would become ill. I can't answer the rest of your questions. To make them more epic looking?

as posted above, those were different times, no refrigiration systems, no technology or vaccines and the fresh water would easily be spent and on long voyages it was a sure kill especialy since they're on sea water all the time and sea water makes you dehydrate even more and such prolonged exposures make the body weak..... 😛 so all in all a question that you could've answered by yourself if you thought about it a bit and didn't post immediately XD

as for the scar on his chest, well that's from akainu's attack when he tried to kill him but didn't reach his heart, remember??
and why is sanji's new eye so cool, well wasn't his old one just as cool too, though this one is curled on a Different and a harder side to curl 😛
and if you look at the last page of the last ch(ch 600) you'll see that Franky's hair turned back to the military cut that it was before, and as for Zoro's eye, we'll see, probably he lost it during his training with hawkeye, or maybe smt else....too many options to cover 😛

we are talking about one piece pirates, not real pirates.

you have to understand they can survive getting their body cut in half, survive a month without food and water, destroy a whole country if they wanted for gods sake!

stop being sheep and think about it. >:-(

Because they're still human.

Just because you can stitch your body back together doesn't mean you can survive getting torn to pieces from the inside out or your body breaking down to nothing.

You should be the one to think more about it, diseases work on a different level compared to wounds, always have and always will. 🙄

Then consider that the diseases in one piece's universe might just be a lot more potent than the one's in ours?

I think it's just a way to have them die, without introducing someone who is stronger than them...
(I mean, if they don't die a natural death, there has to be someone who beat them, death because of some stupid accident would make the mightiest of the mighty look pretty pathetic wouldn't it?)
