Doc posted a good idea here, so I decided to build on it.

In case Doc's idea gets passed, I think that there should be a little gallery of the volume covers that every manga has when they come out.

It could be something that's just for fun that people would like to look at, or it could be for those perfectionists that try to collect everything about a certain manga series.

I like staring at pretty covers. 🤣
It's always nice seeing them, and it can give more of an idea on the over all art(sometimes).

Do you think that this whole database was just made in one day? Just one step at a time, there are plenty of people who love benefiting to a community, and in no time, you'll see covers lined up everywhere.

Another excellent idea, I second this! I'd glady help contribute. Like Loosecannon said, I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my collections, and sometimes its just inspiring to look upon the many covers on your own shelf...

I wonder how this would affect the db. The cover collection is not a bad idea per se, especially for the manga that is old and been published under different imprints and/or publishers, however, and I don't want to sound pessimistic but fact are facts, it could lead to a lot of junk being uploaded instead of covers, basically all kind of images related to the series that are not covers, just like it already happening.

So, you mean something like, where the "image" field is on a series profile, you could maybe click on a little "cover gallery" button and see all the volume covers for a series? Interesting...
I don't think it's really necessary, and there could be some problems (i.e., what about series with dozens and dozens of volumes?--that will take up a lot of space; people adding other images that aren't really the volume cover; what about series that have been translated into other languages, and tankoubon/bunkouban/remakes by other publishers/etc.--should there be a picture for each version?; obviously it's best to avoid people uploading some ridiculous super-ultra-high-res-ginormous image, but what exactly should image size (both byte-wise and dimension-wise) be limited to?; which is preferred, front and back covers of the volume, or just front cover?). Mostly I'm worried about how much space it will take up. But I have to admit it would be cool. And I'd be willing to contribute.

Well, I'd assume that the admins would let a select few upload the volume covers so that they don't fuck around with the images. The people who would upload the pics would have to have them minimized to a certain size, but they could have something where the minimized pic could also be a link to a bigger version of it (I could host all of the big volume covers on my photobucket or imagedump account). As for translated versions, it seems that most people like the original Japanese covers compared to the translated covers, but if someone would find a translated version of a volume cover, then that could be added in there. Bunkoban or remakes of volume covers scans are real hard to find, but if someone finds them, then they can add them as well.

But it doesn't seem like this would happen though because this would only work if Doc's suggestion actually happened, and it seems that it won't actually go in action be any time soon.

It's not a bad idea, but I don't see any point in it. I'd rather just be able to see the current cover in a larger size.

Yeah, it would be hard to get the manga that have 40+ volumes, but if mangahelpers is able to do it, then it shouldn't be that much of a problem. But don't worry, since Doc's idea isn't happening, then this more than likely won't be happening.
