In Need of Computer Help

Hi, I don't know if this would go in here, but I thought I would ask anyway. My computer now for several days has been having problems where the screen would jus go into power saving mode and won't come out of it. The only way to fix it would be turning the power on and off til the screen initializes and turns back on, it happens at infrequent times. Any suggestions on fixing this/finding the problem. I will mention this as well I was an idiot and I by accident swung my foot into the side of my computer when the side was off and I hit something and I had a sock on. So I think I might of gave off a static charge by accident. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using the monitor with someone elses PC, if the same thing doesn't happen then it is probably your graphics card...

It could be on a power saving schedule :....or just busted.
Ima second on Rob1988's suggestion. Try using a different monitor...that is..if you have any >_>

Well I just found out using SpeedFan that the temp for the video card is at 56 degrees celsius so it's a overheating issue.
any ideas about how to help with cooling it down cause the fan is working.

Get a better fan or make sure the present one is clean and spinning properly...
if its a desktop, take the BIOS battery off and put it on, it will reset ur power options too.. if the fans working and if its a laptop, there are some additive cooling systems in the market--I think 🙄

Careful.... on certain makes, every setting is reset, so you may run into problems with other hardware.
I remember they used to sell this PCI type cooling/fan thingy that you could install parallel to your video card.... or something like that.... dunno for sure.... was back in the heydays of overclocking.
I'm sure there's software out there that gives you more control over your video cards settings.
For notebook's, they have some sort of cooling base that you plug into a power socket.... but the reviews have been conflicting.

Actually, I agree with gan17, be very careful about matching up the specs..
