I've recently caught up with the scanlations and it seems to me that it could be nearing completion. I am sure there are a lot chapters still left (by my account, keeping this detail in the story plot, I predict at least 2-3 volumes -->1.5 years), what I mean story wise this is the beginning of the end? Has anyone heard anything?

If it doesn't end soon brotherhood is going to pass it up. And i think it's going to end soon.

I think it has to, because like SwordsRCool already said the anime is moving at lighting speed and it will catch up in no time... And I think the plan was not to deviate the storyline this time around.

But man oh man, chapter 104 is so epic!

FMA is awesome though, so I wouldn't mind if it were to continue past this storyline.
I wonder if Ed will ever grow? If he gets his body back that metal wont drag him down.
But then he won't be the Fullmetal Alchemist anymore, which would be really weird...

I've felt that it has been coming to an end for awhile now and my personal prediction will be it wont out last this year, I haven't watched the anime but if what you guys are saying is true and the anime isn't deviating from the story this time and its going by fast i don't think the manga will last till the end of the year, maybe 6 more chapters and i kinda doubt even that. Full Metal Alchemist has had a good run, it's an amazing manga, but it shouldn't one of those ones that's too long, it should reach its conclusion soon.

I think it's going to end soon. After reading 104 I thought: this is definatly the beginning of the final battle.... Aw man, i can't wait until next month!

I just read volume 21 (by Viz) and in it Arakawa says:
"From this volume on, the story is entering it's final stretch (in a manner of speaking) (...)"
