I'm often mistaken for being younger than I really am. Thinking that I'm 17 when I'm already 24.

Yup. Definitely my beard is what does it. Last job interview I went to I met a young man of 18. He thought I was about 21 or 22. I was 28 then. I suppose that's not much of a difference.

Yes, I'm 20 but people think that I'm 17 or one time a woman thought that I was 15, and it does anger me because when I go to buy beer (not for me, my grandma is the one who drinks a beer everyday because she says is good for something), if the dependent doesn't know me and I say I'm 20 and I haven't brought my ID they laugh at me, really.

A variation of younger and older. though not off by more than a couple of years.
It was more when I was in school. I was tall for my age so I was often mistaken for an older student.
It's not all bad, once at a wedding I was served alcohol but my twin brother was not because he was a lot shorter. 🤣

Usually mistaken for younger. annoys me to hell!! This might be because of my height. I am currently 158 cm (5'2") with little hopes of growing more.

A few months back my elder brother ( he's 6'1") and I were at a park early in the morning. We were lazing about on a couple of swings because it was so very nostalgic. A cleaner lady came after some time and spotted us on the swings. She gave my brother a look of disdain and asked him to step away from the swing. Naturally I also started to get up, but she looked at me and sweetly told me "you can swing, my dear". That is equivalent to being mistaken for an elementary school kid 🙁 🙁

It sucks that I appear older than I actually am. People are surprised often when I tell them my age or what year I am in in college. Or maybe it's just me and I'm too paranoid....But considering my height, no one has ever mistaken me for being younger than I am. I'm taller than average among my people.

Well mine is very inconsistent. I've never asked for the ID when buying booze. And some people are really strict about it, asking ID from anyone who looks like they might not be quite 30 years old or something. I don't think I've been asked from before I could actually even buy booze.

Here's the inconsistency though. People (not acquaintances) usually estimate my age clearly lower than it is. They think I look really young. As for people I get to know, like if I'm going to a restaurant or something with other people, people who I've talked to several times and so forth, might not know my first name, or anyway, with whom I'm not that close, they usually overestimate my age by a lot. Once this woman though I was the same age as her, a little over 30, and said how young I look (near my actual age).

I can understand some of this stuff, but the thing about buying booze... It's a mystery.

Ahhhh, maybe...

I was 16, and I was buying some pretty adult stuff at a convenience store,

condom ,
whenever the clerk asks for my ID, I only say that I'm 17 and turning 18,
heh, doesn't work so nothing much left to do other than go to another store...

After a few failed attempts, I succeeded, yes!
(So, this is the age mistaken, maybe)

Also, when we had a drinking session in one of my friends house, I bought the alcohol, 16 at that time,
was rejected, didn't really matter for there are a lot of places to buy alcohol anyway...
(btw, don't like alcohols very much)

You can't buy condoms until you're 18? Why? Where do you live?

Lately I wanted to buy a 16+ manga, and the clerk asked me.. for an ID. I thought he was making fun of me... but no. He went to the shelf and put it back.
"Erm.. I'm like... almost 21.."

My cousin was still sometimes asked for an ID when buying beer two years ago. She was 33 at the time. Don't know if she still is. Asked that is, not if she's still 33—she isn't.
