this is really driving me insane but where do the shinigami zanpaktou's come from because people go to soul sosiety and if they have that magic stuff(forgot name) you can become a shinigami but the sword is like a part of the shinigami so where do they get one?

If their spiritual energy is high enough to become a shinigami they go into the academy and are trained and the release of their spiritual energy materialises as their zanpaktou. Not sure exactly how since Ichigo is the only one we've seen actually materialise his zanpaktou for the first time and he was an odd case since he isn't dead but in a capter made to promote the Diamond Dust Rebellion you see Hitsugaya dreaming about his zanpaktou's spirit but he didn't unlock his power until he became a shinigami. That's how I understand it anyway but if anyone has a better idea feel free to educate. Also I apologise for any bad spelling, Japanese is not my strong suit, lol.

The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.

They all get a Standard Zanpaktou, I think. And then, by using their spirit energy, it'll change its form according to it. That's why every Shikai looks different from individual to individual.

Nah, I think they all get a standard Zanpaktou, which they use as a medium to convey their spirit energy.

Hmm... trying to say this in a way that makes sense... Toshi dreams about his sword's spirit before he ever learns how to access it, right? That would be the leading argument for it not being based entirely on receiving a standard zanpakuto and not being able to do anything with their energy before getting it. Plus, when you think about it, all the swords have "souls" of their own, right? And those souls are contained within their swords, even before the user knows the name. I think that it's more about a Shinigami's own spiritual powers being able to grow and be controlled enough that they can "contact" their matching spiritual entity/mass/whatever, the spirit of their zanpakuto. That's why Toshi is was able to contact his before having training, because he's really strong and as a result was able to contact his sword's spirit without learning how to harness his own energy first. That's also why Rangiku said it was dangerous.

Anyway, to sum up the above rambling, I think that a plain, sealed zanpakuto, like the one Ichi had at first, is, as aho said, a manifested form of tangible spiritual energy. It's the Shinigami's energy that makes the zanpakuto in the first place. After that, however, they have to learn to use their individual zanpakuto by communicating with the mass of reiatsu with which they are in sync, which forms the other half of the sword, the zanpakuto's own soul. The more they learn to control their power, the more they can work with the zanpakuto's soul by getting more in sync.

The above = why I try to avoid explaining stuff at all costs.

This discussion amuses me and at the same time educated me. As much as i would like to be involved in this discussion, I chose not to. Well cause all i can say is that the zanpakutou is a manifestation of one's reiatsu/spiritual powers. errr, yeah zanpakutou's have names owned by the spirit which is inside the sword. I'm not even sure if i got it right, so yeah, i'm not joining the discussion, phew.

Yes, dang it all, i so much wanted to watch bleach the movie 2 but i don't know where to get a subbed copy, until i watched then maybe i can relate to the Toshirou's story and his sword and i love toshiro taichou by the way 🤣
