I need to agree with ahoaho, that is quite gay, American comics cant be set into those kinds of demographics.
Its a waste of time, paper, and ink if you ask me. If japan was interested in American super hero's, they should buy the american comics (or get american to japanese scantalators and read em online) like the rest of us who can't read japanese do.

Seems like a bad idea to me. Kinda like Americans taking classic manga and revamping them to fit the American audience. Too much is lost in translation.
What he said.
Imagine a Japanese mangaka trying to create "Calvin-kun to Hobbes-san".
Besides.... Todd McFarlane tried Manga-Spawn (Shadows of Spawn), which failed miserably, if I'm not mistaken.
They already do have a Calvin and Hobbes manga version.
As far as comics to manga goes... It's not a bad idea. The problem is once again people who read both the American comics and then go to read the manga (while expecting it to be the same.) Though I'll say that the manga versions will be a much better conversion compared to our conversions of Japanese works. America treats all comics/manga/anime as children's literature. Because of this, there is never a serious effort on part of voice acting/translating to make it bearable.
A warning to those who will be reading the conversions... Don't be stupid and base your conceptions on the marvel we know. It's just like thinking that a book will turn into an equally amazing movie. They need to be looked at in their own light, and their own playing field.
As far as Shoujo X-men goes... My guess is that it'll turn out to be something like Vampire Knight.

Why? They are written by American authors and Marvel is an American publisher. I don't know of any comic book writers from England.

I'm not referring to the language. They are American comics, not English comics. If they were written in Canada, I would say Canadian, if they were written in England I would say English.
There are French artists who sing in English, but they are French. Just like there are Japanese artists that sing in English. That doesn't make them English.

Honestly, if some honest and serious thought and consideration was put into it, I think the concept has real potential. Of course, it could quite easily amount to nothing more than a cheap marketing ploy and fail hard, but that possibility exists in every artistic venue.
I actually really liked Static Shock... for a while, anyway. It had mutant kids with superpowers, but it also spent a lot of time dealing with serious issues in an inner-city environment, like bullying, violence, the pressure to join gangs, parental/father figures or lack thereof, etc. I remember being surprised to find such a show on Kid's WB. Unfortunately, eventually Static was teaming up with Batman to stop Poison Ivy and the Joker, and it all went downhill from there.
I think, done correctly Static Shock or Spawn could make a great seinen.

I'm gonna have to agree w/ Spawnblade and Kuraruka. You can't expect everything to be a genre-defining masterpiece; of course some things are gonna be hit or miss. If serious effort and thought are put into something it has a chance of being worthwhile.

I like to keep my Comics separate from my manga. I do like manga. I do like comics. Wouldn't it make sense that a manga/comic would be awesome? Nope. Not the case at all.

Exactly. I like apple pie. I also like New York steak. I wouldn't mix them together.
