well I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I want to know if I should watch the anime or read the manga?

MANGA! lol in my opinion its better, the anime adds a bunch of stupid filler episodes that have nothing to do with the manga, and at first they even sound like cowboys with the weird accent they gave kenshin. the manga has more character development, and you get to know the story more fully. i did love the OVA, though it was very sad.

I personaly liked the manga more it has better character development and doesn't have all those annoying fillers.

Manga is the way to go. Like someone already said, the last 30-40 episodes are entirely filler, so unless you really liked the manga and want to see it animated, I'd give a skip to the anime.

Now with that said... after you're done with the manga, you absolutely have to watch the Tsuiokuhen OVA. Unlike the TV series, this one is absolutely essential viewing even for non-anime fans. Ridiculously stylish and most likely one of the best anime I'll ever see.

Tokyo Illusion

The anime and manga diverge after the Shishio arc ends. After it does, the manga is better.

The four part OVA prequel is fantastic though, much better than the actual series, and you should definitely watch that whatever you do.

what everyone else said. the manga is so much deeper and while the anime is pretty good for awhile, once it divulges from the manga, it's basically crap. i don't even know what the deal is with those OVAs.
