I've been reading manga for decades and I am really picky now, looking for recommendations. Not really a fan of mainstream stuff. The last manga I really enjoyed was my Brother's Husband, also liked Mushishi and Air Gear.
Please no isekai.

Thanks!

Ugh, Air Gear... after finding out the ending I had to stop. Just wasn't fair

that she basically cheats on the MC, disables one of his other love interests, and still gets him. She was as much of a villain as the series had and the ending lacked the consequences she probably should have gotten.

Also, Air Gear was mainstream, so I'm not sure what you mean by that word.

I'll throw out a bunch of title names, comment on some, no particular grouping or order here. All ones I enjoyed.

Ares, Hellsing, From Maid to Mother, xxxHolic (same universe as Tsubasa Chronicles, there's even a scene that connects the two in the timeline, though in different worlds).

Fuuka if you want your heart ripped out part-way through (the anime went in a completely different direction because the author felt bad for putting so many readers into IRL depression... I honestly couldn't keep reading, not because of depression, but it was due to the same thing that caused a lot of depression in many). BECK (about a kid joining a band) was fun.

Psyren, Princess Resurrection (one of my faves), Pumpkin Scissors, Gintama, BLAME! (The premise of the world of BLAME! reminds me of the flash games called Submachine... amazing point and click escape adventure series that's free online).

Tomo-chan is a Girl, Sousou no Frieren.

One I remember the gist of:
A guy and girl who couldn't not be in skin contact or else one of them would die, and they needed to adventure for the cure. They learned to fight villains by dancing together.
