Honestly, how long can you last without a computer? (You can define "last" and "computer" however you like). This poll was suggested by our member daisukidesuyo. I think on a normal basis, I'd only last a few days without a computer. Oh, and just to mention, I'm a Computer Science major. It'd be very difficult without a computer...

You can discuss this poll on our forums here:

Previous Poll Results
Question: Eating utensils?
Choices:
Fork - votes: 5674 (41%)
Knife - votes: 478 (3.5%)
Spoon - votes: 1759 (12.7%)
Chopsticks - votes: 3892 (28.2%)
Hands - votes: 2020 (14.6%)
There were 13823 total votes.
The poll ended: May 22nd 2010

Fork and then chopsticks. Our main staple

It depends... If I have enough books, I can last forever without a computer (the enough books would be about 5000 pages per week, possibly without repeat, and only ones that I like...) Otherwise...

Not long at all. A few days. I went a week on my vacation to the Caribbean. On a regular basis, a few days at most. I'd be missing it sorely after about a day.
And hey, I saw ads on the site! Don't think I've ever been happier to see a banner ad...

I'll define "last" as "before you croak", and the answer is forever. But I selected "a week or two" anyway because that's how long I'd WANT to last without my laptop. 😀

If I don't need computers for class and works. I don't need it at all. I'm happy with reading books at library.

... because my next voyage is going to last nearly that long so I'll have no choice. No Internet cafés in the wilderness, and few chances to recharge gadgets too...

When I'm back, it will be pretty tough to download the ~500 releases that the groups I'm following will have released in the meantime. I'll have to find some way to have them automatically grabbed from their RSS feed, I guess...

Well forever. It's not like I need it to survive, but that doesn't make it a good idea to live without one.

I went a few days without my laptop. I was reading instead of going online. It's not a need as much as a want. If I have other stuff to do like read, hang out with friends, hw, or vacationing then I don't need a computer.

Then there's my phone... I swear phones act as mini computers these days.

I'd rather not go more than a day or two, but if I have something else to do I can live without it. Er, until I need to Google something, I suppose....I voted 'A few days'. Since it was that or 'Forever'.

Forks and chopsticks are useful, I agree.

wow 5000 pages a week...
meaning 5000/7 gives ~715 pages per day, ~30 pages per hour, ~ 0,5 pages per minute. Reading non-stop, without rest for sleeping, eating etc. Utmost admiration...
