This is the most painful reason to shut down, that I've seen until now....

This is pretty much sad news for me. I remember about 2 years ago when I frequented their site to get my weekly Cross Game fix. I am now a die-hard Adachi fan, and I owe much of it to the efforts of Athanor and the staff of Manga Downloads.

My heart goes out to Athanor and I wish him all the best.

Seeing group after group close in MU news gets me really down.

I kind of agree and disagree to your view. First, it's pretty disrespectful to say that in view of Athanor's situation. I really like them and their works, and wish them all the best in each of their future endeavors. Next, mangaupdates has always been a neutral site, can they really say what's a 'good up-and-coming new team'?

What a funny one you are? So what is a good group and do you think Lamb got all the time in the world looking for those for you? Not to mention, do you know how many new groups pop up only to die after a few releases?

About seen groups dying well it is sad for many, still I felt relieved when I sad my group closing on this site, going: Yes....freeeeedom!!!
Still it was sad for our readers, I mean who's gonna continue their favorite title (I am allowed to wish someone had a favorite from our collection) which I didn't manage to get a group to continue before closing down? Though in the end I still blame the online readers to take the trafic from the scanlators making the readers unable to know when their favorite group needs help to continue the readers favorite title and in the end die out.

PS: Many more groups will die out. I haz proposized that sinze I raged and decided to cloze the shop! Muahahahaha!

Manga Downloads have been one of my time's scanlation groups...I'm sad to see it go but I clearly understand Ath's decision. I would do the same if I was in that position too.

Dude, get hold of your life. That's what comes first. After you do that, take one step at a time until you are back to normal. Trust me you can get through it if you focus on yourself and slowly come back to your old self^^

Eventhough MU doesn't post something about new group, but I believe there are always new group/scanlator rises. And I've even found some new releases that MU doesn't have track of it, or its scanlator.

And IMO it's more important to spread the news about closing of a group, so that someone or some group would know about the news and maybe want to pick the undone project from the group...

scanlation teams closing..bleak future of manga publishing...true, it's a bit sad...feels like the obituary section of the newspaper....but I just don't feel MU/BU has ever been about making "news" like ANN.

I hope that all goes well with Athanor, and I am very sorry for his loss. It'll be hard for him, but I hope that time with heal his pain.
