need suggestion on how to sort manga's digitally by author? by oneshots or series? or others? currently in need on suggestions dunno what type of method to use

I keep each series of manga in its own folder by title. Then I repackage (if necessary) all the files into tankubon zip files with consistent naming so the program I read manga with can navigate them easily. So kinda like this:

Manga
--------->Ao no Exorcist
--------->Bleach
--------->Busou Renkin
----------------->Busou Renkin v01.zip
----------------->Busou Renkin v02.zip
etc

I also have a folder called 'other' for stuff like oneshots, short series or other odds and ends that don't warrent their own folder.

I hope that answers your question. I have over a hundred series on my comp and it works pretty well for me.

what if there are authors with multiple series and it has only one volume would you still use this format?

Keeping a large collection of files & folders by Author seems like a lot of work to maintain down the road. Currently I go by series name - volume# and a loose chapters in the series folder. That is until I converted them over for use in a Kindle at which point they are kept in zip files by series name then finally into long term storage on a NAS (network attach storage) that I use for older anime & computer backups.

For those that haven't tried reading Manga converted for use on a Kindle you have to at some point. So far the best format besides paperback volumes. A bonus is you can keep 60+ volumes on a kindle.

First off I have a loose collection of stuff I've downloaded but haven't read yet (usually the first volumes of stuff), or stuff I'm reading but am not yet up to date with. That's just inside my general manga folder. Then I have "on going" and "completed" folders. Inside those I have folders for each series. If it's an author that I've got several series of, then I put those inside a folder for the author. I've also got a separate folder for oneshots inside the completed folder. So it might go like this:

-Completed
--Furuya
---Genkaku Picasso
(files)

or

Manga
-Ongoing
--Claymore
(files)

Hmm, I've never come up with that situation, but if it's the best way given the situation, then go ahead. It's really all about what works for you.

i put them all in download folder and use search program/field to look for them

only one i organize are the manwha i translate, which is in separate folder

Very simply, as nesting folders inside folders inside folders etc. is a pain in the ass. I made a manga folder in one of my drives, then I separated them by title. That's it in most cases

What do you use to convert the manga to a Kindle supported format? Calibre? What format do you start it in and what format do you convert it to?

As far as organization I have a program that looks for new chapters of bookmarked manga, it downloads the images to it's own folder (or creates the folder first if necessary), then I set it to compress the chapter to a .zip file, which I then read with Honeyview.

I don't worry about trying to search for a manga by oneshot/author/genre/etc. - that's what I use this site for.

I have alphabetically sorted folders for each series, and within that subfolders for each volumes
I try not to have subfolders for the chapters, but sometimes I just can't be bothered to rename everything if the scanlators go from 1-20 or whatever for the filenames in every chapter, or if it's stuff from different scanlators.

Once in a while I shove finished stuff I'm not gonna read again too soon on my external HD, still just sorted by the mangas' titles.

I usually don't sort by author, I could see it making sense in case of very similar titles from one author though.

http://foosoft.net/mangle/ I bought a Kindle 3 way back when they were the current kindle model. got a least 20000 manga pages turns on it before i dropped it. using another kindle 3 now.

Tool supports jpg gif png. it designed to downscale the images to that of a kindle screen plus to 16 grey scale this allows the pages to display perfectly without loading times. Can convert whole folders including sub-folders. Take a bit of practice to get the sort right the first time. When moved onto the kindle what ever the name was set for the export will show on your menu like a book. Best part it remembers the page so you can be reading a volume stop and come back to the same spot. (know kindle 3 support reading contents of Zip files)

I have kind of complicated system, but it's better. First, when I download a manga, I repack all chapters, so one volume will only be in one folder (so I don't need to always click on go to next folder in reader), delete the credits and staff, rename the files and store it, folders named 1, 2, ... as for the volumes. I store them by title, in four folders, one for shounen/seinen, shoujo/josei, yaoi/shounen-ai and yuri/shoujo-ai. But right now, I'm making a folder in every of these, where I store oneshots, if they are in a series, too.

so:

-------------------------vol2
-----------------title
-------shoujo/josei
------------------title
-------------------------vol1
-----------------oneshots
-------------------------title
etc.

if there is an option between "to do" and "not to do", I will always choose the latter.
